CHAPTER 19
I couldn’t believe the words that came out of her mouth. Was she serious? I know I was drunk but I thought I heard her say Darren was cheating on me.
“Dee, I know you don’t like the kid but you don’t have to lie.” I said to her.
“What? You think I would really make something like that up?”
“Yes because you just don’t like him.”
“Mel it has nothing to do with me not liking him. It’s just that if he creeping you shouldn’t be with him. I didn’t like him from the jump but I knew he was bad news. And then I found out he was with some other girl who go to that private school across town..”
“By who?”
“What?”
“Who told you he was cheating on me?” I asked her angrily.
“This girl I’m friends with said she saw him with some hispanic chick. I thought it was fishy but I ignored it because it was a bunch of he said she said you know? But then I heard about the accident and-”
“Through that chain of people..” I mumbled.
“Yes. And someone else told me they heard he crashed because…”
“Because what?”
“Sigh...Mel I am not making this up.”
“Just tell me Dee!” I yelled.
She took a moment to get the strength to say it.
“He was getting head while he was driving and that’s how he crashed.” she blurted out.
Once again there was another pause.
“I can’t believe this.” I said walking around the room.
“I know it’s hard to believe Mel.”
“After all this time…” I trailed off.
“If you want we can go find the girl and whoop her ass.”
“After all this time I can’t believe you would really make all up!” I yelled.
