ONE MONTH LATER:

“Babe it really isn’t that big of a deal.” Jacob said annoyed.

“No big deal?  I’m having dinner with you and your mom.  I need to look presentable.”

“Oh my god.  Are you nervous or something?”

“Hell yeah.” I said flatly.

Jacob laughed.

“It’s not funny.  I want her to like me.” I frowned.

Jacob grabbed my books from me and held my hand as he walked me to class.

“She will.  To be honest I don’t even care about this dinner.”he said honestly.

I was taken back by his comment.

“Why not?”  I asked him.

“I’m not really that close with her anymore.”

We turned the corner into another hallway as he continued to talk.  I was trying my best to listen to him speak his feelings.  He barely talked about his family, and I can’t blame him.  However I could not ignore the stares we were getting.  Many of the black guys I passed shook their head at us and the white girls simply whispered to each other.

“Are you okay?” Jacob asked me.

He cut off my thoughts when he asked me this.

“Yeah.  It’s just that you would think people would be over this interracial dating shit by now.”

Jacob looked around and saw what I was talking about.  He let go of my hand much to my dismay and put it on my lower back, practically touching my ass.  My face turned red.

“Oh my god!  Jacob!” I laughed.

“What?  Let em watch.  They just mad because I got what they can’t have.”
