CHAPTER 24
Out of all of my years in high school so far, I do not believe I have had a more stressful year. I don’t know whether it was more stressful before Jacob or after Jacob. Before Jacob, I was working on SAT’s and picking colleges, after Jacob I had to worry about fights, dating, and so much more bullshit. As I told Dee, Chi Chi, and Sherrell all of the drama that happened yesterday with Jacob’s mom, they all agreed I have been going through it.
“Yeah girl we can tell there has been some changes in you.” said Chi Chi.
“Yeah. Some are good and other’s aren’t. But it is all a part of growing and having experiences.” said Sherrell.
“Right and you have Jacob. That alone should make everything go away.” said Chi Chi.
Little did they know. I only ever told Dee the full situation of Jacob and I, and I still need to tell her about Jacob’s dad actually getting a hearing soon.
“Yeah but it’s May so I am just trying to relax now.” I said.
“We should all go out and do something tonight.” Dee said enthusiastically.
“Like what?” I asked.
“There is a party tonight.” Sherrell said.
“Where?” Chi Chi asked.
“Over at the edge of town.”
“In other words, its in the ghetto.” Dee said.
We all laughed.
“I don’t know if I feel like going to a party tonight you guys.” I said.
“Oh come on Mel it will be fun.” Sherrell said.
I looked over to Dee.
“We ain’t doing anything. We might as well.” she said
Eventually we all agreed to go. It was now around six and we weren’t going to go to the party until nine. This gave us all time to get ready. Sherrell and Chi Chi left my house to go get ready while Dee and I got ready at my house. She kept annoying me about her bangs and them looking straight enough.
