The house was pretty big, not mansion like and a little bit on the creepy side, Eric decided as he looked inside from the window. Not that it really mattered, the street didn't give any other signs of civilization.
"The dude's got a swing," Aaron called and approached the grill. "He's not married, why would he need one?"
"Hm maybe it was here when he bought this place." He replied "I wasn't expecting the house to be so far away,"
"Who would by a house this far and isolated?" The other asked.
"A serial killer." Elias joked and then considered it for a second. "I'm starting to think that the huntsman was right."
"There's only one way to find out." The Are said busting the back door.
Elias was the first to cross the door frame, slowly taking in every detail of the house; first the kitchen and the living room afterwards. It was strangely dark, then after seeing the sealed shut windows he understood why.
"Girly clothes, if that's not creepy." Aaron commented lifting up a skirt from the floor.
"Let me see," Elias said holding the sides of the skirt and placing each on his sides.
Aaron just stood and stared "Dude, what the hell are you doing?"
"I'm measuring and if I'm doing it right, these clothes belong to a teenage girl between 16-18"
"Wait Ely," Aaron said quickly, "I think heard something."
The two fell silent and listened. Silence stretched between them for a few minutes until they all heard shuffling noises from behind the door, as if someone was in there and moving things around.
"Someone's definitely in there," Aaron murmured.
"Do you think Coulson came home early?" Elias asked, hands moving to grab Aaron's elbow.
"I don't think so," the taller boy replied, "It smells like ladies perfume, lots and lots of it."
"The owner of the clothes maybe?" El suggested, "If Coulson is in fact guilty, the girl who lives here with him might be the shifter."
"Perhaps, that gives us more than a reason to bust the door and see for ourselves."
Aaron approached the door and rapped on it quietly.
The shuffling stopped immediately.
"Police! Open up!" Aaron called in a deep voice turned to the blond who nodded.
He was met with silence.
And suddenly the door blasted inward knocking both of them on the ground, Aaron was lucky enough to land on the couch recovering from the hit immediately.
His eyes looked around for the small figure of his friend only to be met with yellow gleaming eyes hidden behind dishelved blonde hair, their theory just proved itself.
"Well well, look who has been hiding here." He taunted.
The shape shifter grinned "Looking for something demon?"
"Yes actually, something Asian." Aaron answered before his fist swayed in front of her face.
She barely dodged before reaching out a clawed hand and slamming the boy to the ground like nothing.
"This isn't an antique shop."
All the air rushed from his lungs and for a moment he couldn't breathe, his mouth opening and closing rapidly as he whimpered and gasped for air.
A few feet away, Elias gradually stirred and rubbed at his eyes as blood dripped from his chin. "Jane?"
The said Jane lets out a roaring laugh at the whispered name, her eyes moving back and forth between the teenagers before she focused in on the blond with a twisted grin. "Sorry, you're mistaking." she teased, yanking the teenager to his feet by the front of his shirt and shoving him harshly further away. "I'm um what did you call me? 'The shifter' I think."
Breathing heavily, Aaron shook his head helpless to himself as he tried to sway on his feet.
The voices inside his head were deafening, he couldn't hear anything but them, just the chaotic mess of screams inside his head telling him to get up and kill her.
Numbly he stumbled forward, never taking his eyes from the scene in front of him.
She was going to kill him.
Jane's mouth started moving and even though Aaron couldn't hear what she was saying, he knew what it meant, especially when she pulled out a dagger from her pocket and stood over Elias.
The voices felt like they were cracking the inside of his skull, burning his lungs as they claw to get out.
Elias was going to die.
The Are opened his mouth and a scream tore out of him with such force it felt like the earth shifted. On instinct, his arms shoot out in front of him, reaching for Jane as if to choke her.
Elias gasped remembering what the huntsman said to them earlier, he could help them.
"Clay!" he called with what was left of his voice, and before his eyes failed him blue twinkling light emerged.
The Huntsman appeared in the room, and looked around at the carnage. "Harper?" he reached for the boy as soon as he saw him lying on the ground. He only passed out, the huntsman reassured himself then turned back and his eyes frantically search out the other teenager.
Aaron was nowhere to be found, a raging demon was all Clay could see. The huntsman held up his hand in a choking motion, and the shifter began to choke.
The demon's screams faded out and the sudden silence fell heavily down on him and forced him to his knees. He took a shuddering breath but it was more difficult than it should be, like there was a weight pressing on his chest and keeping him from getting enough oxygen.
Is this all he could do?
