"The train has arrived in Bronwich. Please be careful," is what I soon hear over the trains speaker. I reach across the table and shake Maki and Raven lightly. When Maki wakes up I point outside to the forest covered town of Bronwich. We we're farther south now so there was no snow here and fairly warm weather for mid Winter.
Soon we got off the train and headed into town finding the address where to get more information about the witch we where here to stop."This should be it," Maki say looking at the address on her print out of the poster. We walk up and knock on the door, "Mr. Mosslash! We have come to seek out more information on the witch we got jobs to take care of from you."
*Maki*
I go to knock on the door again but this time I see something I can't explain other than a possible vision of the future.
*The vision*
"Come dear lets play a little game now that your mute friend has fallen unconscious..."
'Maki he needs a doctor! He's hurt bad!'
"Get him to safety! I got this!"
"So the phoneix warrior is going to try and play hero are we? Good let's have some fun. I let them leave if you stay for a little while."
"I will do it! Just let Raven get Alexander to the doctor by removing you spell on him!"
'Maki don't do it! It's not worth it! I am not leaving you behind!'
"Just run there's no way you can win this!"
"I am not giving in like that!"*End Vision*
I stumbles back a half step, trying to hide my panicked gaze from the others, how did the people in the vision know I was a Phoneix warrior?! Before I knew it the door opened revealing a short man with moss green eyes and brown hair, "Ah yes! Come in come in! The witch has been causing us so much trouble! When everyone of our repairs are done she will come in and destroy everything again!" Moss said leading us inside his house, "Sit down, I'll tell you about the witch. But please call me Moss, would you like some tea?"
Me and Alex both nod and he gets a three cups of tea and a bowl of water for Raven.
We sat down at a small table, Raven sitting down next to the chair I was sitting in, "thank you Moss, My name is Maki, the wolf at my feet is Raven, and this here is my partner Alexander."
Alexander slides his note book across the table, Moss soon understand Alexander is unable to speak and that I would probably be doing most of the talking so Alexander didn't have to write a lot down. Alex sips the tea carefully, then holds it between his hands listening to the conversation.
"So what can you tell us about the witch?" I ask looking down at Raven slightly, who was drinking water from the bowl sliently.
"The witch used to be one of the town's mages but she went kinda crazy so the village told her she needed to control herself or she would be kicked out. As you can probably tell, she was kicked out. She know has been attacking towns people and the last mage we sent after her has not been heard from in a few weeks... Please find him as well if you can we would love to know that he is safe... As for the witch, she lives up in the mountains that are north of town. You probably saw them, with the tracks being quiet bent, farther north and repairs happening multiple times per month the travelers get great views of the mountains while the train is stopped. That's all we know besides what is already in the poster, sorry."
"Thank you for you assistance, is there any place do you think where we could stay the night?"
"There's an inn downtown try there, good luck on your search for the witch."*At the inn*
*Alexander*"Hello, how may I help you?" The lady running the inn said to us softly.
"Do you have two rooms for rent for the next few days?" Maki asked, petting Ravens head softly. Raven purred like a cat.
"Let me check Miss"
She brought up a list of rooms on her computer and typed away at the keyboard for a few seconds.
"Sorry we only have one room available," The lady said, "with all the helpers comming in from other towns we are quite full, but it does have two beds, will that be fine for you two and your companion?"
Maki looks back at me and I nod saying it was okay with me.
"Yes that be good for us, thank you" she said smiling.
The lady behind the counter hand each of us a room key and we find out way to our room. The room was average size, two beds with grey sheets sat on one side while a door leading to the bathroom and a small kitchenette sat on the other side.
I place my bag down on one bed and Maki places her stuff down on the other.
"It's getting late so we should probably start our search tommorow what do you guys think?" Maki asks taking off her winter coat.
I catch a glimpse of the pendant around her neck again and I pull out my note book, writing something down in it before passing it to Maki.
'Yeah, we should probably start tommorow. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is that pendant you are wearing? I saw you put it on while we were on the train.'
Maki reads what I wrote, passes the notebook back, places her hand on the pendant, and speaks in a soft voice, "it was a gift from a friend to help control my powers. It also help me not show people who I really am," she sighs, I tilt my head still looking at her. I hand her my notebook again after writing down what I was trying to say.
'What do you mean?'
Maki takes off the pendant, suddenly wings made of fire apper on her back, and her hair glows red, "My real name is FlameBlossom..."
I jump back slightly at the sight of the wings of fire, she quickly puts the pendant back on, Raven spoke up next, 'Makiiiiiiiiiiiii I am hungry...'
Maki looked down at the wolf and smiled, "all right I'll make you something to eat, Alex you hungry?"
I nod and watch Maki walk towards the kitchenette, I couldn't believe what had just happened. Was the myth was true?
Did the Phoneix warriors really exist?
