Finding The Keys

Chapter 52

I looked at Seed with a confused expression and as I did so the she wolf got to her feet and walked over to Hatchet, " If you don't mind, I would like to hold a naming ceremony for your friend here. I have picked a name for her."
Hatchet looked to me in surprise, "Are you wanting to do this?"
"Yes, it would be an honor to get my name from this very kind elder." I say bowing my head softly to Seed.
"Alright. I'll go and call the others back. They went to catch dinner, I hope they caught something." Hatchet says nodding his head to Seed and walking outside the cave back into a brewing storm.
Raven's tail flicks from side to side, letting out a big yawns as her does so.
After awhile, Hatchet comes back helping Wind drag in a deer. They lay the deer in the corner and nod for Seed and Water to eat. The older wolves get to their feet, pad over to the deer, and begin to feed.
I stretch my limbs softly getting a nice pop sound as I extend my legs. Wind has lied down, still panting from the hunt, Pumpkin sat at his side, watching him.
We take our turn eating, Raven and Hatchet eating last after I. After everyone had their fill, Raven picked up the what was left of the deer and went outside to bury the remains.
Seed had made her way up a top a rock that over looked the small cave. She sat tall her tail neatly wrapped around her paws. We all cam and sat around the rock, Hatchet and Raven sat to either side of me.
Seed waiting for Pumpkin to stop to stop asking her ten billion questions about what was going on to her dad before she started to speak, "Today we give a new name to one who wishes a new start to her life, She-wolf, please step forward."
I stand, walking closer to the rock, I was extremely nervous, my tail twitched slightly.
"After some care thought, I have come up with a name for you, it comments you well, with your fur and eye color being most pure of blue, as blue as a distant lake deep in my memory. Your name, for now on, will forever be Blueeyes."
Howls erupted from behind me as they welcomed in my new name. 'Blueeyes' I think to myself, 'I like that name'.
"Thank you Seed" I say looking up to her, "I will wear this name with pride."
"As you should," Seed says, "welcome to your new life."
Seed climbs down from the rock and Hatchet quickly bounces up to my side. "Blueeyes hu?" He says touching his tail briefly to my side, "It has a nice ring to it"
"Yeah," I say nodding in agreement, "Seed is very good at coming up with names"
"Yes she is," Hatchet says lying down beside me, "she helped name almost everyone here but Water, Raven, and myself."
I smile, looking down at Hatchet, I notice a patch a thin fur on his left front paw. "Hatchet, what is that from?"
"Oh this?" He said holding up the paw, "I was shot, it went clean threw my foot, I was young so it healed quickly."
I nod, looking back outside, "Have you ever seen the stars?" Hatchet says a few minutes of silence.
"Never clearly," I say "I wasn't allowed outside much and my holding place didn't have any windows."
"Maybe sometime I could show you them" he said softly.
"I would like that," I say smiling, "I really would".
"Maybe next time the sky is clear and we have nothing better to do"
"Okay"

Icicle and I talked the morning away, not to long after finishing breakfast Dem, Alexander, and Thomas woke up. We all ate and the boys went off to their various jobs. Icicle has taken the day off to hang out with me, but Hatchet, Raven, and the She-wolf running off called for a few changes of plans.
"Maki," she says catching me off guard, "you really don't mind living here? Its quiet far from your work..."
"No I don't mind at all," I say shaking my head, "plus Raven, Hatchet, and the She-wolf need a place to run and they cant do that in town. Out here is wonderful, plus with Tom getting ready to go to college you will need a roommate to help with rent."
"And I guess you are less of a fire hazard out here as well. Haven't had an prophetic nightmares lately?"
"Not since the day the they disappeared" I say gestering to the keys hanging from my black rope belt. The keys never left my side anymore. I wouldn't risk losing them again.
"Maybe be you can start searching for the other keys as well, they have to be out there somewhere right?"
"Yeah," I say nodding, "even though I just got Rosefang back last night. It would be great t have them all back again." I place my hand on my keys and smile.
"How has your magic been with them gone?" She asks sitting down on the couch.
"A lot weaker. I am no were near as strong as I was before I got sick, the incident with the witch, and they disappeared. But every day is a new day and every day I feel alittle bit stronger. It's only a matter of time before I am back to normal again and I can start to grow stronger."
"Just don't rush it you fireball. You don't want to burn yourself"
"Same goes for you freeze bag. No freezing the stream over!"
"But it already is!"
We both burst into laughter and continue to chat on and on about our growing powers and about times passed. Icicle spoke of rumors of dragons and dragon slayers in the highest peaks of the Southern continent. We hoped that's were Chante went. The land of Fiore, was what said place was called. A land of old magic. Only the invited ones could go there and it's a place Chante always spoke very highly of. Where ever she is we hoped she is in good hands.

Lunno floated by my side and I watch the rocks float around me. I was doing this. This was something that I was doing.
"Very well Imōto-san... you are growing strong bt the day, the others are very proud of you" the scaled being spoke softly not wanting to break my focus. "You will be able to join us out of the mountains soon."
"I will?" I say jumping slightly in delight after setting the rocks down.
"Yes. He says your almost ready and we all trust his word"
"Okay! Hear that Lu!" We get to go out of the mountains soon!"
"Yay!"
