She stood near a river, on a bridge made of wood.
Her hands rested on the iron rails,
As she watched the still reflection of the moon. She stood there with tears falling from her eyes.
She wasn't sobbing, nor was she shaking.
She stared into the night, reliving each of his lies.
She wasn't moving, nor was she trying. He suddenly came close, but stayed in arm's length.
Not he who made her cry,
But he who told her not to try.
But alas, she ignored her best friend's sighs. She lifted her face and looked into his eyes.
She saw sadness and worry, clouding his sights.
No questions needed to be asked,
They wore each other's sorrow like an identical mask.He finally went closer, and hugged her so tight.
She finally broke down, and held him with all her might.
Thoughts were entering his mind,
Not all of them were kind.He wanted to punch the man who made her cry.
He wanted her to cry and pour her heart out.
He wanted to take all her tears and keep her dry.
But most of all, he wanted to be the one who first asked her out.Its not a secret that he loved her.
Everyone knew, except for the girl.
How dense she is, he didn't care.
But he just wanted to always be there. Her thoughts, however were much more different.
Her mind was filled with sorrow and doubt,
Questions about the man who broke her heart,
And the man who embraced her as the night drew out.Not as dense as she wanted others to see,
She wanted, no needed, this man as much as he.
She did not cry for the man who left,
She cried for the time he wasted and theft. She wanted this man, who stood in the moonlight,
He who stayed and protected her in the night,
He who she loved from the first day they met,
He who she knew deserved more than her pathetic self. They stayed with each other, just holding and cradling.
Dusk approached with both of them not speaking.
Not one of them told what their hearts were screaming.
Not wanting to forsake, the comfort friendship offered.
