I once dreamt of fireflies and roses.
Of glittering trees and sparkling comets.
Swinging on the tire while singing freely.
You were right there, laughing beside me.

Then everything shifted, my head throbbing wildly.
I closed my eyes, darkness consuming me.
I open my eyes, you no longer with me.
I shook my head, searching for you longingly.

You suddenly appear, calling me frantically.
You take my hand, then running desperately.
Murmuring sweet nothings, looking in front of me.
Telling me songs, of love and eternity.

Curious why you held me protectively,
Running while thinking continuously,
My neck twisted back, gazing behind me,
Forests of green, in flames entirely.

Pulses rang inside my head,
Screams of help echoed 'dead.'
Creatures lying on flower beds,
Everything consumed by scarlet red.

My eyes were glued to the scene at hand.
Gone were the fireflies and the beautiful roses.
Gone were the trees and the sparkling comets.
Then I shivered, looking at your hand.

I stopped running altogether,
Looking for the hand that linked us together.
With sobs and tears, I shook my head,
Then I noticed, you left me again.

Heat and flames danced dangerously close,
Closing my sight, accepting black hues.
Needing the warmth of lover's embrace,
I welcomed the blaze, burning the taste.

Waiting for heat, where was the flames?
Expecting the burns, where was the pain?
Cold and damp, my feelings remained,
My sight regained and you were the rain.

I woke up from the endless domain,
where dreams and nightmares roam and maim.
You were there with glass on hand,
My face dripping wet from what you had done.

I laughed while I cried, while you panicked and ran.
I thought of the times when we're having fun,
I thought of the times when my panic began.
I cherished the times you did what you can.

And in this moment of time and space,
In this moment of reality we face,
I can live with a smile and roll our life's dice,
Because I know you'd never leave my side.
