dan's pov

phil didn't take me home right away. he stopped in front of a starbucks despite it being 10 pm.

"why?" i bluntly questioned laughing.

"i want to get to know you better dan howell." he said as he got out of the car. i followed him to the door of the establishment, he held them open for me. the coffee shop was full even though it was late. we stood in the back waiting in the line which was longer than usual. "so, what do you want?" he turned to me.

"i don't know, i don't really drink coffee that often."

phil gasped over dramatically making me laugh again. "how?!"

"i just said how i don't usually drink coffee."

"sassy much." he smirked making dan blush. "if you don't know what you like then i will find something." he paused waiting for my imput but i didn't say anything so he kept going. "i'll get us both the best drink this place could offer."

"and what would that be?"

"a carmel machiatto."

"generic."

"but good." he said happily.

when it was our turn he ordered two carmel machiattos and cookies. the women working the counter gave him his receipt and began babbling to the next customer.

"trying to impress me are you?" i teased.

"possibly." he said looking for a place to sit. all the sofas were taken so he led me back to a two seater table by a window. we sat down waiting for the barista to call us for our coffees.

"so dan," phil asked waiting for my full attention "why have i never seen you before?"

this was an easy question. i sat up straight and smiled. it was hard for me to not be happy when i'm with phil even though they've only met three times. "i'm new." i paused for empathy and also to see if phil would have a reaction, he didn't, as he was to polite to interrupt so i went on. "we moved from berkshire to here so i could get away from my old classmates."

"bullied?" he asked. i nodded. "i get it," he said solemnly. "i was just wondering why i've never seen you around. i wish you would have came here sooner."

"philip and daniel" the barista called from behind the counter. i started to push my chair out to collect the drinks for us but phil told me to stay. ugh he was so nice. i watched as he collected the drinks tipping the barista. she smiled watching him as he walked away. it seemed as though anyone who crossed paths with phil became happy at the sight of him. it was like he was a literally ray of sunshine.

"coffee for danyal and filup." he said placing the drinks on the table snapping me back to reality. "i swear they spell the names wrong on purpose."

i laughed and took a sip of the carmel machiatto.

"good?" phil asked.

"yeah." i said astounded.

he took a sip of his own drink and returned his attention back to me. "so, i brought you here because i want to know more about you."

i nodded.

"do you want to play a game?" he said innocently.

"i guess, what is it?"

"well, i don't really know what it's called but it's where you'd tell me something about you and then i tell you something about me." his pale blue eyes dilated as he said it.

i don't understand how anyone could be this cute - er no - ugh what am i saying i don't even know him. i again shrugged away my thoughts and looked out the window then back at him.

"i don't think that's a game it's more of a playful way to pry personal information from people. also i think it's called confessions."

"trust issues much." phil murmured.

"just go." i said annoyed.

"okay, any pet peeves?"

i contemplated the question for a bit and then responded, "i don't like people touching my neck." an easy unrevealing answer.

he smiled. "your turn."

"what's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?"

phil laughed and covered his mouth with his hands adorably. " a kid once convinced me to eat cat poop on the playground telling me it was chocolate and the entire class watched."

i broke out laughing. "how did you think it was chocolate?" i said in between breaths.

"i was three i didn't know!" he put his head down on the table and pulled his jacket over his head in shame making me laugh even harder. he peeked out from underneath his arm. "if you think it's so funny then what's you most embarrassing moment?"

i stopped laughing. i've had some many regrettable moments through out my life it was hard to pick one. "when i was twelve i accidentally pulled of a girls costume in the school play."

phil was the one laughing now. "how!?"

"i didn't mean to it just happened. she was saying her lines and i was standing next to her and she tripped and i tried to catch her by grabbing her dress but it came clean off!"

"that's amazing!" phil laughed.

"at least i didn't eat cat poop."

"hey!" phil shouted playfully catching attention from a few of the people around us. all of a sudden his phone buzzed in his pocket. he looked down at it under the table with a frown. "we gotta go dan." he said sternly despite the fact that we were uncontrollably laughing seconds ago. "i'll take you home."

he got up returning the coffee mug. i did the same as i followed him to please start.

the entire ride back to my house we sat in silence neither of us saying anything. when we pulled up to my yard i got out and said goodbye to phil. he waved giving a weak smile and drove off into the night.
