TWENTY EIGHT:

Saturday, July 9th
7:00 PM

"You look stunning, love," Klaus complimented as he stepped into my beauty room.

"Where have you been?" I frowned, standing up from my vanity. I quickly grabbed my purse and walked to him at the door.

"Running errands, but I'm here now."

"And right now we're late," I retorted.

"It's not a big deal," he replied, grabbing me by the hips. I rolled my eyes and gave him a mere peck on the lips.

"Did you pick up a gift?" I asked him.

"Well, sort of."

"Klaus!" I shouted. "That's the one errand I asked you to do. The whole thing is about giving gifts to the witches. And now we don't have a gift?"

"You don't even like the witches."

"Correction, I don't like the slutty redhead. I don't know the rest."

"Baby girl, it doesn't matter," Klaus tried to reassure me.

"Please, let's just go."

Klaus nodded, taking my hand in his. He led us through the compound and outside. We didn't have to do too much walking before we were in a sea of people all here for the festival. I stopped walking when I noticed three girls being carried on chairs that sat on on a large flat surface that was carried by a couple men's shoulders.

"Aw," I gasped. I looked at Klaus, smiling up at him. "Those girls look so pretty."

"Mhm, sure... Now, come on. I'm looking for Elijah," he replied.

"What?" I frowned. "No."

"Love—"

"What's wrong with us being alone?" I asked, turning to face him fully. He sighed, shaking his head. "Baby, please, can I just have you to myself for one minute?"

"Fine."

"Thank you," I smiled. I moved forward, hands gripping the sides of his jacket as I pressed my lips to his. Klaus smiled back in our kiss, his arms wounding around my waist. We kissed deeply until we were out of breath.

"Keep kissing me like that and I'll have to take you home to have my way with you," Klaus smirked and I blushed.

"If you're lucky maybe you can have me later tonight. After this and the party," I retorted and he rolled his eyes.

"We should've stayed home."

"I know you don't want to be here, but I like a good reason to get dressed up," I said, smoothing out my all red pant suit.

"You do look ravishing."

"As do you," I said. "Now shhh... Everyone's favorite slut is starting the ceremony."

Klaus chuckled loudly, wrapping his arms around me from behind. "Now, in accordance with the Fête des Bénédictions, the witches of New Orleans bless you all!" Genevieve shouted.

Everyone applauded and cheered on the witches. Genevieve stepped away from the stage so it was just the three young girls.

I cheered along with the rest of the crowd, watching Genevieve move off to the right of the stage. One of the three young witches stepped forward. She had wavy black hair and wore a gold dress. She raised her hands from her sides and suddenly the ground began to shake under me. A few gasp went around and my hand clutched onto Klaus' arm around me. "I got you, love," my boyfriend whispered into my ear softly.
