THIRTY FOUR:
Wednesday, August 31st
1:26 AM"Elijah," I whispered softly, rubbing his shoulder softly. "Are you okay?" I asked and he just stood there. He threw himself into the doorframe, and now was panting as he leaned against it. Sweat covered his forehead. He looked sick and I felt faint again. Elijah wasn't sure if his blood helped me heal completely seeing as it was poisoned with werewolf venom. Which explained why I still felt weak but at least my head wasn't bleeding. I just had a dried up scab on my left temple and dried blood on my forehead.
After talking to Marcel and Cami, Elijah tried to take me to a hospital because I was walking crooked. But I refused. Though I promised after I found Klaus, I'd have my boyfriend heal me or take me to the hospital. Because I felt nauseous and irritable. The room still spun if I stood still for too long or leaned down or—Well it didn't take much to give me a dizzy spell.
However despite feeling sicker than ever, I think Elijah was worse. It had taken us two hours to leave Marcel with Cami and all the dying or dead vampires littered around the compound. Elijah and I had went to Genevieve's witch hideout. No one was there. We tried following Klaus' footsteps which then led us to this. The church. If they weren't here we'd then had to try the cemetery.
"Danielle?" I head someone call. I furrowed my brows. Elijah and I were by the entrance to the church. Besides the voice I wasn't sure I even heard, it was eerily quiet. "Danielle... Baby girl?"
"I'm hearing things," I mumbled.
"No," Elijah said, pushing himself off the doorframe. I placed a hand on his shoulder to steady him. Before I knew what happened I was pinned to a wall with Elijah's hand around my throat.
"Eli—jah!" I croaked out. My hands clawed at his weakly. He squeezed tighter and I gasped for air but found none.
"Elijah?" Someone else called. Elijah's eyes widened as mine began to close. Then he just let me go. I panted, knees giving out on me and my body dropping to the floor. That brief moment of lack of air was enough to drain me of whatever energy I previously had. I need a nap.
"Niklaus," Elijah mumbled.
"No. Dani, wake up," a raspy voice pleaded. I groaned softly as my headache returned with unbearable throbbing. But I recognized that voice. My lover. Klaus. It was him.
"She's... hurt," Elijah panted.
"Baby girl," Klaus whispered. I smiled weakly but didn't open my tired eyes. I was safe now. I could sleep. "Look at me. Please," he begged.
Or not. "My eyelids are heavy," I whispered. One of Klaus' hands caressed my cheek and then he sighed.
"Drink," he demanded, his wrist pressed to my mouth. I barely opened my mouth. Or maybe he forced it open. But a few drops of blood was pouring rapidly down my throat. He didn't pull his arm away until I was coughing. Or choking. I wasn't sure which. "Look at me."
Despite being exhausted. I instantly felt less weak. My head's pounding turned into a dull ache. My eyes burned but they were open. A weak smile on my lips as I looked him over. He looked a hot mess. Like he'd been through hell. And I worried because I know he has. "Baby, hi."
"Hi, beautiful," he smiled. He pressed his forehead to mine and pecked my lips.
"Where's Hayley?" Elijah asked, breaking up our reunion. Klaus cleared his throat, pulling me up with him to our feet. Klaus pointed inside the church. Elijah moved to the open double doors, walking further into the church on unbalanced feet.
Klaus tugged me along so we followed his brother. "No. No, no. No..." Elijah chanted as he dropped down to the ground after reaching a marble table.
"He's been bit by a werewolf," I told Klaus who frowned.
