Katelyn

"Come In!" I shouted. Mrs Thomas opened my door and came into my room.

"Everything ok, Katelyn?" She asked.

"Yes, Mrs Thomas"

"You might want to come downstairs, there's an important announcement soon."

Mrs Thomas stood up and left my room. I sighed, why did I have to go downstairs? Lauren and Eva would inevitably be there and that meant only one thing. I was going to get laughed at and called names. I don't know why they do it, which makes it worse. Mrs Thomas doesn't even notice because Eva's her favourite.

I stood up and stretched. Before I went downstairs, I shut off LDShadowLady on YouTube. It was my little secret and I had to keep it quiet. If Lauren and Eva found out I watched gamers, they'd no doubt make fun of that too. I stumbled downstairs in a daze and sat in the main room where everyone else was. The sofa was already filling up, so I squeezed on the end so that I wouldn't be sat on the floor with the younger children. Lauren and Eva shuffled over towards me.

"Look who's come out of the cave!" Lauren laughed.

"She must have got lonely. No one ever dares go in there." Eva added.

"At least I'm ok with being by myself," I whispered.

"She's biting!"

Mrs Thomas came into the room.

"Lauren, be quiet now please." She said.

Lauren shuffled back over and kept glancing back at me with dirty looks. The younger children started to quiet down and Mrs Thomas picked up some papers. She quickly read over them then began talking.

"Right children. As you know, we have an open day every month and tomorrow is the one for March."

The younger children started to get excited, but the older ones (including me) just sighed. The thing is, people never wanted us older kids. They usually adopted the 2-5 year olds, ones they could raise as their own and watch grow up. Us older kids were always put aside. On open day, people walk past us and just roll their eyes, clearly thinking that we're just going to be uninterested and grumpy. But in cases like mine, we're want to get adopted more than the youngsters. However, I guess they need it more.

Mrs Thomas began talking again.

"There is only one couple coming to look around tomorrow. They aren't quite sure what age they are looking for, but they think they would rather have someone who is a little bit older. They will be coming at 1pm, and leaving just about 2:30pm. If you're lucky, it could be one of you older kids going." She smiled.

My lips curled into a smile as she left.

"Haha, you think you're in with a chance? Well, let me tell you idiot weirdo Katelyn, nobody's ever going to want to adopt you," Eva laughed.

'No one wants a bully' I thought to myself. I ran upstairs and lay on my bed.

I was in a daze and thought,

'What if tomorrow is my lucky day?"
