Katelyn

I woke up the next morning confused. It was 9:30am, but it was so quiet. Usually people were awake by this point, screaming and shouting at each other. But then I realised - I'm not at the orphanage any more. I smiled.

Pulling myself out of bed, I walked over to the wardrobe. I grabbed some black skinny jeans and a red and white striped top. After getting dressed, I brushed my teeth and headed downstairs.

When I got downstairs, it was weirdly quiet. I couldn't hear Lizzie and Joel anywhere, yet Meri was jumping around in the kitchen. 'Hmm' I muttered to myself. Buddy was sat in front of the door, so I walked over and patted him on the head. Of course, he didn't know me so he backed away slightly. "Lizzie? Joel?" I shouted, hoping they'd reply. Nothing. I looked past it, thinking maybe they were still asleep. Lizzie and Joel had told me just to help myself to food, so I made myself some toast for breakfast. After buttering it and taking a bite, I decided to head into the living room.

I opened the door, and it was quiet in a mysterious sort of way. However, I overlooked it as just me being new to the place. I turned around to close the door.

"SURPRISE!"

I jumped. I turned around to see so many people. There was Lizzie, Joel, Callum, Scott, Oli, Yammy, Kyle, Lizzie's parents, Lizzie's sister, Joel's parents and Joel's sister. I smiled a massive smile.

"What the heck!?" I laughed.

Lizzie ran over and hugged me.

"Well, we thought that we would surprise you. We wanted to introduce you to everyone, and we thought that this would be a fun way to do it." Lizzie explained.

"It surprised me alright!"

Everyone laughed. After Lizzie let go, I was being hugged by everyone else in the room. I was well and truly squeezed. I was so happy. I felt like I was really part of something, like I was welcome.

"How long have you all been down here?" I asked.

"I don't know. Probably about 45 minutes or something." Callum said.

"Oh. Well... um... sorry! I suppose I was just tired from yesterday."

"No, don't worry about it! I suppose you could do with the sleep, and the quiet!" Joel said.

We carried on talking for hours about anything. My past, the Orphanage, youtube and anything else that came up. I felt really happy that I was being accepted into Lizzie and Joel's life, not just with their friends but with their family too.
