In the distance, the Hogwarts clock tower struck midnight and the stone on my silver necklace glowed a deep purple. Professor Alduin turned around to see a throng of dark witches and wizards pointing their wands at him.

"Maven, what is this?" Alduin struggled against what he was seeing.

I slowly put my shoes back on. "I told you I'd help you find Voldemort."

In the protection of the Death Eaters, I turned my back on the auror and watched Abraxas smile as I approached him.

Suddenly, a blast of green light blew past my shoulder. I was nearly struck by the killing curse, but it missed hitting me, and found its mark on another's chest.

"NO!" I screamed, and caught Abraxas.

The light had gone from his eyes, and emptiness entered me. I became a hollow body that collapsed in on itself with immense rage.

Placing Abraxas' corpse on the ground, I rose to an incredible height, transforming every inch of my body into the white dragon many wizards and witches learned to fear. My dark horns glinted in the moonlight, as I slowly turned my head to see Alduin's wand uneasily aiming at me. A snarl rumbled up from the depths of my rib cage. Inhaling deeply, I let out a roar that knocked every witch and wizard present off their feet.

My wings beat and easily sent trees crashing down. With frightful speed, I rushed Alduin, dodging blasts of light he sent toward me. The Death Eaters joined in by running to cut off Alduin's escape into the Dark Forest. They chased him down, but my attention was yanked behind me. I felt a pull on my horns, and threw my head forward. Launching the dark figure that attempted to grab onto me to the forest floor. It was Voldemort. I hissed at him.

"Maven, you always disappoint." He smirked.

I roared in reply and snapped my jaws where he had been standing. Swiftly following the wisp of smoke Voldemort had become, I sent balls of fire hurtling after him. The forest lit from dragon fire, and I continued chasing the coward that was once my brother.

Shape shifting into a smaller target, I beat my black wings, rolling in the air to dodge green light. "GET BACK HERE YOU SCUM!" I screeched, but he Apparated to safety. Returning to my human disguise, I screamed in rage all the way back to the lake where I cradled Abraxas' body. The only sounds in the forest were my cries and the flames that continued consuming the forest.

In no time, a gentle hand touched my shoulder. It was Minerva. I looked around and saw Headmaster Dumbledore return from the ousted forest fires.

"Miss Zeria?" He began. "Tell me everything."

I clenched my jaw. "Voldemort and the Death Eaters found Abraxas and me." I swallowed down my hatred. "Professor Alduin had been hunting them, and he found us. A battle broke out. Abraxas was caught in the crossfire."

"And everyone else?"

"They took Alduin; I presume he will be dead soon."

"Tortured first, yes. Voldemort will do everything he can to gain any information from the Auror." The old wizard nodded. "Come, we must inform the Ministry of Magic."

Levitating Abraxas' body, I followed the Headmaster back to the castle. Minerva took my open hand, holding it tightly as we walked. Her support was an incredible feeling, but it could not fill the void inside of me. Every wizard I had ever loved was taken from me, one way or another. I was the collector of dark wizards, and this was always how their stories ended.
