Again, I entered the Room of Requirement, but Alduin had changed it slightly. The door disappeared from the inside, so I was unable to escape. Gritting my teeth, I knew the only way I would be able to lure Alduin into the Dark Forest at midnight was if I played along with his sick games. "Would it satisfy you if I simply obey, or should I play?"
My question caught Alduin's attention and he examined me again. "I'm sorry, are you Maera Zeria or Maven Riddle?"
A smirk peeled at my lips as I began my banter with the handsome man whom I wanted to kill. "I can be anyone or anything you want."
"Is that so?" Alduin straightened his posture and I lightly placed my hands upon his broad shoulders.
"Say the word," A devious grin broadened across my mouth and the man pondered his options.
"Blonde, blue eyes, plump lips, four foot ten, and childish." Alduin's voice sounded rehearsed as if he was listing his fantasy toy.
Chuckling darkly, I transfigured into exactly what he wanted, "That is a curious request." My reply stung him as I spoke out of character. "Pardon me." My childish laughter echoed menacingly in the grey room.
"Silence! You're ruining my daughter!" Alduin roared at me and lifted me off my feet with a firm grip around my neck.
"I'm sorry! Please, don't hurt me, Professor." I choked and clung to his hands desperately. Even acting in character of the young girl he requested of me, I felt his rage pulse through his hands just before they released their grip upon my throat.
Dropping me to the floor, I coughed for air and collected the black dress that now appeared large on me. It was imperative that I acted in the character Alduin preferred or else I would fail at ridding myself and all other dark magic practitioners of a sadistic Auror. "Sir?" I queried at the man who held his face in his hands. Warily, I approached him and gently set my hands on his arms. I stared up at the hazel eyes a few feet above me and in them saw tears of anguish. "What's wrong?"
The man set his jaw and snarled through grit teeth. "She murdered you and I wasn't able to do a thing. I was weak!"
My big blue eyes silently listened to the pitiful confession of the Auror's pain. "Professor Alduin, who did this?"
"You did, Maven; a white dragon with black horns." Alduin hissed and looked threateningly at me. "At the lake with Professor McGonagall, I saw you transfigure into the very beast that massacred the German wizarding school. And the night I first brought you to this room, again you chose the same white dragon and I knew it was not coincidence; besides, your alias graduated from Schloss der Hexe und Zauberer a year before the attack. I knew you chose that school for Maera Zeria because its official records had been destroyed. Clever girl, you are, you know that? But one detail you forgot, I was the headmaster of that school and I could only watch as my students and family were brutally ripped to pieces on your whim."
Fear set into me as I realized, my rampage years ago was not forgotten. The headmaster of the school I destroyed had been hunting my dragon facade and I was too foolish to even think that any witch or wizard would try to get revenge upon a dragon. "What are you going to do to me?" I quaked and brought my hands to hold up the excess fabric of my dress which no longer fit me in my current body.
"I am going to continue to use you to find and kill your brother, and then torture you to death." Alduin reached out to gently trace my face, and a shiver rippled through my body.
Nothing would help me now; I could not kill Alduin until I fulfilled the Unbreakable Vow and I wished midnight would come sooner. "Professor, if I promise to behave will you forgive me?"
"Never," The man replied coldly and turned away from me. "Return to Maera's form now, Maven."
Obeying Alduin, I was glad that I no longer had to hold my clothes to my body, but I dreaded what was soon to occur. "What do you wish for me to do?"
As slow as a gentle wind before a savage storm, the hazel eyes turned to glare at me. "Suffer."
A sigh of desperation left my lungs, "Sir, with all due respect, my suffering will not bring back the students and staff I slaughtered."
"Then, why did you do it? WHY?"
Cowering back a few feet from Alduin's raised wand, I whispered. "You wouldn't believe me even if I told you."
"Oh, please, I would love to hear your pitiful excuse, Maven." Alduin dripped with hatred.
Remembering the screams of the witches and wizards I had killed, a slight smile twitched at the side of my mouth. "I get off on killing people." Admitting to the erotic pleasure I felt from taking lives made my heart flutter and my nerves tingle with sickening delight. "Bathing in their blood is my heaven. Besides, who doesn't like possessing the power to take away life? Anyone can give life, but only the bravest know when to take it." I hissed, dodging a curse the wizard sent past my ear by lunging and knocked him against the ground.
Kicking his wand from his hand, I pinned him and conjured black ropes to hold his limbs down. Anger pulsed through me like a raging dragon and all my thoughts were lost, I wanted to paint my lips with Alduin's blood and I cared not whether I died along with him at that precise moment.
