Wake up, wake up, wake up! We had just left the house with his keys and our bookbags. We got in his car. He made a wrong turn but I trusted him. I trusted everyone. Wake up! He made a turn around a corner. I started to see rainbow flags. People were up the street.
"Where are-"
"Today's Pride!" he said cutting me off.
"So?" I knew what he meant.
"Your gay embrace it," he said turning down another road.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"That road is too busy," he said simply. I looked out the window and saw people my age, maybe younger, celebrating. Maybe I should have some pride in who I am. Wake up! Carlos sped up.
I looked at him then back out the window. I saw a car speeding towards us from an alleyway up ahead."Carlos!" he slammed on the brakes and cussed. He then backed up to give them room. Shit! Wake up! The car slowed down then stopped completely in front of us. The left-back window rolled down and a guy with a mask and gun came out of the window. No!
"Faggots!" he, I think, yelled. Carlos went to say something but gunshots started to fire. I saw a cross on the guys mask and on the car before I dunked down. Wake up!
The shooting stopped but I smelt blood. I heard the car roll away and looked up.
"NO!" I cried out. Carlos had some bullets in his shoulder. His head had a hole towards the left side. His neck had bullets in it along with some glass here and there. Warm, wet, tears streamed down my face. I cried for help and to my luck, a couple of kids heard. I suddenly felt a pain in my shoulder and looked down. They got me. Blood rushed down from my shoulder but I didn't care. My brother was...dead and it was all my fault.
"Someone call 911?" a voice came. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
