By the time news got out it was too late to take away any bruises, but even after that Luke's group still ganged up on me. Luke stayed away from me although that didn't stop Damian from beating the shit out of me. I had been to the nurse's office 9 times and the hospital 3 times during the time it took them to find out. Thankfully that was just Sarah being Sarah. No major injuries yet, but I feel it won't stay that way.

Luke lets me come to his house every once and a while. And while I'm there we lay together and watch movies or sleep. He makes sure his parents are never there which I'm OK with.

Lacy wants me to start talking in front of people again, but it was a one-time thing. I only talk to people I trust.

Currently Lacy was talking to me as I got stuff out of my locker. She was saying something about Luke's new girlfriend. I was hurt but didn't expect him to like me like I like him. Although Lacy said she wouldn't even look at him until he came to his senses.

"You OK?" she asked as I was in deep thought. I nodded and she continued to talk. We passed Luke but I didn't pay any attention. People talked as Lacy and I passed them. A rumor had been going around that we were dating, which made people talk to me.

We walked into class and she went to sit in her seat while I sat in my corner seat. Tomorrow she would sit with me, then there, then here, and repeat. I was OK with it. I liked being alone and I knew her and Sarah were trying to break that habit.

Luke, on the other hand, was very convincing. He had convinced me to get a piercing, he's convinced me to start watching football, although I prefer not to choose between teams because Luke gets violent. He also, somehow, convinced me to laugh more. He helps a lot but I still have trouble laughing in front of people.

"Marco!" my teacher yelled. I jumped but quickly recovered and looked back out the window.

"Somebody tell him if he refuses to participate he can go to the office," she said not acknowledging me. I wrote on a piece of paper to answer the question on the board and got my stuff to leave. People started to whisper but the teacher's back was turned. Ever since Luke started convincing me to do stuff I have become bolder. Or just more of a smartass.

"What do you think you're doing?" the teacher said when I reached the door. I started to bite on my lip ring, something that started to become a habit. I pointed at my desk and walked out.

I waited in the office for Lacy and Luke. I didn't expect Luke to come and he probably wouldn't but I still hoped. After another 20 minutes, I heard Lacy talking with Luke.

"He's not avoiding you, you're avoiding him," she said. Who are they talking about?

"He hasn't come to my house in 5 days," his voice came out dry and tired.

"You haven't invited me," I said walking out. Luke jumped and Lacy laughed.

"You can come whenever except-"

"When my parents are home, or my friends, or my sister," Lacy and I mimicked him from the million times before.

"And now girlfriend," I added sadly. Lacy noticed but Luke didn't.

"Yeah," she said awkwardly.

"Hey, babe," speak of the devil. He stopped while Lacy and I continued to walk to our houses. I heard them starting to talk but Lacy told me to hurry up.

"Don't worry about it, he's probably going to break up with her tomorrow, you know that," she said as we walked. I nodded my head not really caring about him. At least trying not to. Not long after we had got on my street Luke drove past us.

"Well, he got lucky," Lacy and I said in unison. Again. We laughed a little although I mainly laughed at her laugh. It sounds like a dying hyena and panther while it also made her look constipated. I'm glad I have her. If only Luke felt that way towards me.
