Darian's POV
I walked into the doors of school with Stella and Madison by my side.
"So you're not gonna tell us why you're practically glowing?" Stella asked.
"For the last time, I'm not glowing!" I protested. They had been bugging me about this 'glowing' nonsense since this morning.
"Oh please. You've had that same goofy grin on your face ever since we've been at your front door." Madison said.
"You guys, really there's nothing glowing on me."
"Yeah sure." We all departed to our lockers. I gathered all my books and switched out the ones I needed for my first class. Just as I took my biology book out, my locker was slammed by someone. Startled, I jumped and looked to see a petite girl with short and curly dark hair. She had a nice brown skin tone. She smiled bitter sweetly before speaking in a high voice.
"Hello!"
"Um, hi." I gave her a smile.
"I'm Deja. Deja Thompson."
"I'm D-"
"Trust me, I know who you are."
"Alright." I chuckled nervously.
"So. I know you go out with Daniel Simmons right?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Oh. No reason. Just wondering." She turned and began walking away.
"Hey wait!" I reached out for her arm.
"What do you wanna know?" I asked.
"I wanna know how a girl of your league, could settle for such a low class fellow like Daniel." She stated, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
"What do you mean? Daniel is a great guy." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Oh is he?" Before I could retort, the bell rung, interrupting me.
"Guess I'll see you around. Darian." I stood there I shock. What in the world just happened?
I hurried off to class before I would be counted late yet again.

School ended and I walked out to the front steps of the school. I stopped and pulled my phone from my pocket and stuck my earphones in. I started walking towards the street to cross the intersection where I'm supposed to meet Daniel. I looked down at my phone and began texting Daniel to tell him I was near. The music and my focus on my phone completely blocked my attention from my surroundings. I continued watching across the intersection. I was about halfway when I heard yelling, and the sound of a car horn and tires screeching. I looked up from my phone and saw a white Cadillac Escalade coming full speed at me. I was in utter shock. I gasped and let out a shriek as I prayed that a miracle would happen. I thought everything was over until I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist and pushed me across the rest of the intersection. I landed in the soft grass. It took a minute for me to process everything. My breathing was still very uneven, but I was able to look up and see who saved me. I had to do a double take when I saw the one and only Jaden Smith looking down at me with his eyebrows furrowed and worry in his eyes. He said something but my earphones were still in my ear. I frantically moved then out of my ears and furrowed my eyebrows.
"Huh?" I asked shakily.
"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" He observed me with the same worried expression.
"I'm fine," I breathed, "you saved me." I sat up and looked around. Lots of people were staring with scared looks on their faces. Some were whispering. I saw the truck in a crooked position in the street. The passenger door flew open and out stepped a petite figure.
