Noises came from the dorm hallway - particularly loud voices. The voices were usually of higher volume, except during curfew hours, but now was a special case.

"Bro, I'm telling you, it's just wrong. It's unnatural!"

"Oh, right, because a person loving a person is unnatural."

Evan walked up to the door and put his ear against it to get a better idea of what they were talking about.

"It's not about love, it's about the future! How is this world going to continue without reproduction?"

"There's a lot of straight couples and straight people out there, you dipshit."

The first voice was unknown to Evan; the second, however, was definitely Jonathan. Clearly they were talking about gay relationships and clearly the other guy was upset.

"With the way this world is going, there won't be many left."

"Is that all you think about? All lust and no love? Are you serious?"

"Are you serious, Jonathan? Why are you defending them so much? I'm sure you get all the girls anyways."

There was silence afterwards and it caused Evan's blood to boil. Without a second thought (or a first, for that matter), he whipped the door open and surprised the two men. With Jonathan slightly behind him, Evan got up in the stranger's face.

"How ludicrous can you be? This world is changing and you need to accept that fact. There is nothing wrong with a guy loving a guy or a girl loving a girl or anything else that's not 'straight.' You shouldn't be worried about the future of this world because if you keep acting the way you're acting and talking the way you're talking, you won't even be here to see it. Did you know that there are 153 million orphans in this world that could use a family? If that number were a population of a country, it would be ninth in the world, just ahead of Russia. Don't you think that amongst that number there would be straights who could help reproduction? You're so worried about there being no future generations yet the past generations have giving them up like nothing! I sincerely hope you never have children because I would be sorry for them."

After Evan pushed up his glasses and concluded, the entire dorm hallway began to clap. They all nodded and cheered. Then, stepping over to Jonathan, Evan kissed him on the mouth in front of the guy and said, "C'mon, boyfriend of mine, before all the girls want you."

They walked to their dorm door and went inside, leaving the hater to hate and the lovers to love.
