It had been about a week since we left. I felt something towards Ash. It felt like friendship. However, it felt stronger. I didn't know what to do, for I was also engaged; however, with someone I don't love, but nonetheless engaged.
It had been six days since the wedding. They are probably looking for me right now. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't marry him. That is part of the reason I left. That's why I was running away. It was a beautiful day to be riding. I used that as a cover, and my family was leaving anyways for some business with the pastor. They thought I could use a change of scenery. They had no idea I was running away. Plus, I had no idea I would meet Ash, the wolf boy.
"What are you thinking about?" Ash asked.
"Ben," I said.
"Oh," he said solemnly. "So it looks like you need something else to think about," he said.
"You think. I am just so frustrated at myself. I was running away that day. I had everything ready to go. The last thing I wanted was to meet some mysterious stranger and run away looking for some lost memories. You see my problem yet," I said.
"I sure do. That's what I felt like when you found me. Except I wasn't running away and I had all my memories intact. I am not making this any better," he said.
He was trying a little too hard at that. The whole time we were riding we didn't really speak much. We just walked and I set up the camp for us to sleep at and I also set the fire. He hunted. I found streams where we could get something to drink and bathe while he drank the drink. All I was thinking was, 'Why me? Why do I have to do most of the stuff to make us on our journey. I cook the food, get us water, make our camping sites, I do everything. While he does little things. Why me?'
Then I got tired of it. I decided not to make supper. He was coming back from bathing and he looked at me.
"Is supper ready?" He asked.
"No," I said.
"Why not?" He asked, clearly confused.
"Because I didn't want to. Simple," I said.
"Okay, well you go bathe and I'll make it," he said, getting the rabbits he caught.
"I'm surprised you can cook," I mumbled.
"What was that?" He said.
"I just said that if you can cook, why didn't you?" I said.
"You seemed like you wanted to. You didn't ask me to do anything and you seemed like you needed a distraction," he said.
'Well that makes sense I guess. But he still could've said something,' I thought to myself.
"Well I'm gonna go bathe and leave you to it," I said.
"Okay. Don't take too long. I'm very hungry," he said in an amusing tone.
I laughed and left. There was this feel feeling inside of me, wishing, no, hoping he would come with me. I shook the feeling away and bathed.
