Adrian looked very confused as to why he was back to normal, so it was easy to guess he didn't know as well. I looked to the man I called my father, and he seemed very calm.

"Worry not, he can't harm you here. Don't you remember? This is the forest of truth. It shows your true self. This is Adrian before... well I guess you know that. Well my daughter, how have you been?" My father asked.

"I've been swell. The family that looked after me is dead because of Adrian. He destroyed the whole village. I saw my parents. My real parents. They were in dreams, but they were there. They helped me," I said.

Father seemed shocked to hear this news. However, he looked very relieved as well. Everyone was calm here. They were happy to see me as I was to see them. Everything was finally back to the way it was supposed to be. Well, almost. Adrian was still lonely and heartbroken. I didn't know how to help him.

"Father, may I speak to Adrian? Alone?" I asked him.

Curiosity ran through him, I could tell. However, understanding was also there. He gave me permission and everyone left. Ash was the only one who stayed, which was understandable.

"Ash, I said alone," I said.

"I know and I trust you, but I don't trust him. I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone with him. Especially after everything he did and is probably about to do to you," he said with no hesitation.

"I know Ash, but your trust in me is going to have to be enough. Plus I'm an excellent screamer. If something goes wrong, you'll know. And I know you'll be there for me," I said.

I placed both of my hands on each of his cheeks. I got on my tip toes and kisses his forehead. He seemed a little relieved. It wasn't much, but I knew I won this debate.

"I won't be far," he said with the most certainty.

"I know."

He left. I was alone with Adrian. I looked in his eyes and saw so much anger. It broke my heart. I never wanted this for him. After all, he is my first love. He's the person I loved before Ash. And I still want him a part of my life, just not the way he wants me to be.

"Adrian, I'm not gonna yell or argue. I am going to listen to anything you have to say to me. If you want to kidnap me go ahead. I'm done fighting you. I'm done running. This is between me and you. Ash has nothing to do with it. So go ahead. Do your worst," I said without an ounce of fear in my voice.

He looked shocked at first. Then what I saw on his eyes tore me apart even more. I saw brokenness. So much that it became even more anger.

"I want to know why you left me. Weren't you happy at all? Was all of it a lie? Were you waiting for him the whole time? Did you even love me?" He said.

"Adrian I told you everything. I was happy. I was very happy with you. None of it was a lie. I didn't know I loved Ash. Well I probably did and that was why I stopped seeing Ash in general. I cut him out of my life so we could be together. Then my feelings for you started to fade away. I didn't know what to do at first, so I stayed with you. Eventually it made sense that I loved Ash, and still do. I did love you, truly. I still do, but not the same way," I said.

"You do love me?" He said with little hope in his voice. It broke my heart because I knew it would be shattered once more.

"Yes I do," I said. I knew he saw the guilt and heartbreak in my eyes.

"However, it's not the way I want it to be, is it?" He asked with his hope fading.

"No it's not."

I went to him slowly without faltering. I put both of my hands on his shoulders, I then got on my tip toes and kissed his cheek. I pulled away and saw him crying.

I turned around and walked away. When I looked back, he transformed and continued to run the other way. However, I knew he would be alright. He had finally let me go, and now he can live a life of his own.
