Legolas' POV

I stand next to my father's throne, keeping my face straight. I watch two figures climb up the stairs, so I take in a deep breath.

"Presenting Lord Elrond, and Lady Yara," one of the guards says. I can gauge that Yara reaches my chest, but she keeps her head down, so I cannot see her face. Elrond bows, and Yara gives a small curtsy. She finally looks up, and I flinch. I know her. I know I recognized her name, but I now know who she is.

Her brown eyes, the way she stands, I recognize all of it. And I can tell she recognizes me. A few beats go by, until I am offered a small smile from Yara. She curtsies, so I bow.

"Very nice to meet you, m'lady," I say. She nods,"very nice to meet you, as well." We both act like we have never met before. We treated each other horribly in the past, but neither of us wish to admit it.

"Andriel, come here," my father says. Someone comes from the shadows, and I realize it is Lura's friend. She gives a small curtsy.

"My lord?" Andriel asks.

"Take Yara, and get her cleaned up for dinner," he instructs. Andriel nods,"yes, my lord." She leads Yara away, and I regain my composure.

Sitting at the table, I watch my sister, Lura, come in. She sits down, and does not make eye contact with our father, and he does likewise. Just an ordinary family dinner.

Yara comes in next, looking down. She sits down, quickly, not looking at any of us. The servants come in, each with a plate of salad for us.

We all eat in silence, no one wanting to be the first one to speak. It is quite awkward, with everyone just sitting there.

Finally, Lura clears her throat, signifying she wishes to speak. We all look at her.

"Did Andriel give you a tour, Yara?" she asks. Yara shakes her head,"nay, I wished to get ready for dinner, then be left alone until." I smiled.

"But surely, someone of your stature would like to be shown around," Lura presses. Yara shakes her head in response,"I would much rather explore by myself. I rather enjoy being alone." I raise an eyebrow in question, but do not say anything, and dinner resumes to the same silence as before.

I walk to the library, not really paying attention to anything, when I hear singing. It is hauntingly beautiful, and it makes me stop in my tracks.

"All the light of a thousand spotlights, all the stars we steal from the night sky, will never be enough." I go to the source of the voice, but, as I expected, there is a shut door.

"Towers of gold are still too little, these hands could hold the world, but it'll never be enough. Never be enough for me."

I work up the courage to knock on the door, and it opens, revealing the one person I never expected to see.

Yara Copperslayer.
