The next day, Liana woke with a jolt. She was in the bed alone and she quickly scrambled to her feet, her head spinning. She walked out the room and was about to go downstairs in hopes of finding Chris, when she heard something in one of the other rooms. She frowned and pulled the door open to the room and instantly smelled paint.

Chris was facing away from her in nothing but some sweat pants and sneakers. The wall was no longer plain and white, but was colorful with a half-done abstract painting of a face—or what Liana thought was a face. “Chris?”

He quickly turned to her, a small smile on his face. “Did I wake you up? I’m sorry.”

Liana smiled, shaking her head as she walked towards him, standing beside him and staring up at the freshly painted picture. “You got skills, yo.”

“Told you…” he mumbled, dropping the paint can on the floor and rubbing his messy hands on his pants. “Did you sleep okay?”

“Mhm…” Chris nodded and just stared at her. “What?”

“Um…nothing…” Liana frowned and ran her fingers through her messy hair and almost screamed with embarrassment with the thought of how crazy she must look right now.

Fresh out of bed, her hair was probably sticking all over her head and she didn’t brush her teeth or anything…she knew she looked a mess. “I’ll be back.” She quickly ran out the room and went in the bathroom, locking herself in and going to the mirror. She stared at herself and took in her appearance; as suspected, her hair was all over, but it didn’t look half as bad as she expected. Her eyes were puffy from all that crying she had been doing but other than that, she looked fine. She couldn’t help but to laugh at the fact she was getting all mushy when it came to Chris and what he thought of her…

She liked him...

Smiling to herself, she shook her head and began brushing her teeth.

“Baby, calm down.” Chris mumbled, frowning as they walked passed a group of guys and Liana squeezed Chris’ hand, moving closer to him and closing her eyes tight. “Nobody is gonna hurt you.” He spat and rolled his eyes, getting a little annoyed with the situation.

“I’m sorry.” She looked up at him, frowning. “Please don’t be mad at me.”

Chris frowned and he leaned down to peck her lips. “I’m not mad at you, more like myself.” He sighed and pulled her to a bench and sat down, pulling her next to him. “I really wish I could’ve stopped those motherfuckers before they hurt you, Li, and that’s my fault.”

“It’s in the past right?” she smiled a little and quickly stopped when Chris glared at her.

No, because now you all jumpy and paranoid and shit.” He huffed and rolled his eyes. “I really wish there was something I could do to make you feel better.”

“Be my boyfriend.” She blurted out and quickly covered her mouth when he smirked at her.

“Say what now?” Chris teased, turning his head and leaning closer to her, pretending he didn’t hear what she said.

“Nothing!” she blushed, standing up and putting her hands on her hips. “Now stop playing around nigga, I wanna go shopping.”

“Feisty Liana is back, huh?” he cocked his head back, standing up and biting his lip.

“Ugh…” Liana rolled her eyes at him, crossing her arms as she walked away from him.

It wasn’t long before she felt his arm across her shoulders. “Damn, we ain’t been dating for five whole minutes and you already leaving me.”

Dating?” Liana frowned, stopping in her tracks and looking up at him.

Chris frowned, mocking her and looking down at her. “Oh, you don’t claim me anymore? Damn, this relationship is starting off fucked up already.”

Liana blushed, shaking her head. She couldn’t help the small giggle that escaped her lips. “We’re together? You’re mine?” she asked quietly, suddenly feeling like a school girl all over again.

Chris smirked, wrapping his arms around her waist and pecking her lips. “Unless you don’t want me to be…”

“Of course!” she stood on her tip-toes and pecked his lips. “I lowkey wanted you ever since I saw you at my dad house.”

“Really; now I don’t feel so bad because I’ve wanted you since then too.” Liana laughed quietly, shaking her head.

“Wow, can’t believe after all the fuss…I’m still stuck with your big headed ass.”

Chris chuckled, pinching her arm and kissing her forehead. “Shut that shit up.” He grabbed her hand again and pulled her towards the car.

“How’s TJ?” Liana asked once they were in the car.

“He aight, getting better.”

“Still don’t like me?”

“Can’t stand your ass.” Chris laughed as Liana glared at him. “Don’t look at me like that; you already know my friends don’t like you.”

“Because they’re assholes.” She mumbled, pulling her shades on and sitting back as Chris drove towards the mall. “I don’t like Jordan or TJ, Rashad and I are okay.”

“I just bet.”

“Excuse you?!” Liana pulled her shades off, frowning at him. “Is there something you’re tryna say, Christopher?”

“If I had something to say, Liana, I would say it. Calm down.”

“Whatever.” She crossed her arms, sitting back again and biting her lip.

Chris sighed, deciding to not say anything else and drove in silence until they got to a mall strip. When they parked, he noticed a car park not too far from them that was behind them for a while. He shook the bad feeling off, getting out after Liana and walking around the side of the car to hold her hand. “Don’t be mad at me baby.”

“Well stop acting like I’m the worse person in the world!” she snapped, rolling her eyes.

“I never said that.” Chris frowned, holding her waist as they walked across the parking lot. “I’m sorry, baby.” He kissed her neck, hearing her giggle quietly.

Okay Chris!” Liana smiled, pushing him away from her. “Now make it up to me and buy me shit.”
