“This is cute.” Liana mumbled, picking up a Louis Vuitton purse of her interest. She looked at the price tag and put it back immediately.

Chris laughed, taking it back off the rack. “You want this?” He asked.

“Yeah, but I don’t have my money.”

“You don’t need any money when you’re with me baby girl.” He chuckled, putting his arm around her and holding the bag. He eyed a nigga hopping out the car that had looked suspicious. They just so happened to walk into the same store as Chris and Liana were in. Chris gulped down his temptation to make a scene and finished shopping with Liana.

“Oh my God!” Liana shrieked, running up to a pair of Red Bottoms. “These are so fucking cute.”

These are so fucking cute.” Chris mocked, smiling. He didn’t care how much he spent on her, as long as she was happy and not all depressed, he would do anything. Besides; she was his girl now and everybody knows Chris spoils the shit out of his bitches.

“Oh shut up. There’s a pair for you too.” Liana joked. Chris straightened his face and shot Liana a look.

“Don’t play with me.”

“You sure you don’t want a pair?” Liana continued, erupting in laughter.

“Alright, I’m gonna leave your ass in this store.”

No. I’m sorry.” She smiled and he joined her. She picked out her size and Chris handed her three stacks.

“Here; if you need more call me over.” He said walking off to the men’s section.

Liana latched onto his arm before he could get too far. “Chris! No. Don’t leave me here. I wanna go with you.” She pouted, fear clearly in her eyes.

“I’m right over there. You don’t have anything to worry about.” He pecked her lips and she gave in. Her whole mood changed though, she didn’t want to be alone. She wanted to be right up under Chris. So, she decided she would look at a few more things then go over to him.

Chris kept an eye on her. He would pick up a few things then look her way. Mainly to make sure that nigga that hopped out the car didn’t try anything. Chris patted his waist where he held his 9mm. He didn’t let Liana know he was strapped, because she would freak out. But he knew he needed to stay armed just in case he needed to fuck shit up.

“Fuck.” Liana gritted when she dropped all the stuff in her hand. She bent down to pick it up when she felt someone near her. She looked around and saw a guy helping her pick up the stuff she dropped.

“Here you go baby.” He offered, giving her the stuff. Liana knew nothing about the car following them, or this particular guy getting out the car, who had been keeping a close eye on her the whole time her and Chris were in the store. But something about him gave her a bad vibe, so she just offered him a smile and he offered one back before winking his eye and walking away.

Chris, luckily, didn’t see any of it. He was too caught up in some sneakers to realize the nigga had walked up to Liana. He grabbed the sneakers and decided it was time for another store, so he walked back over to Liana. “You good?” He asked after grabbing the stuff from her and putting it on the counter for the cashier to ring up.

“He keeps looking at me.”

“Who?” Chris frowned. Liana gestured her eyes to the right without moving her head. Chris turned and stared at the guy. He set the items down and walked over to him. Without any hesitation, he grabbed the dude and threw him up against the racks that held clothes. Everything fell, including the guy who hit the ground. “You think I ain’t fucking notice?!” Chris asked, hitting him repeatedly; not giving the dude a chance to answer or fight back.

Chris!” Liana screamed as the cashier called the police. Chris ignored her, he kept hitting the guy. He picked up a metal bar from the rack and hit the guy with it until Liana came and pulled him away. “She’s calling the cops; we gotta go!” Liana cried.

Chris made a face and looked at her. He pulled some more money out his pockets and tossed it on the counter. “Keep the change.” He grabbed Liana’s hand and all their bags and walked out the store.

“I’m sorry.” Chris mumbled after they got in the house.

“It’s o—okay.” Liana stuttered. Any progress she once made from the grief she was feeling was definitely gone. If anything, she felt worse. She felt some what safe in Florida, but now they found them there. What the fuck? She couldn’t do anything but cry. She felt so hallow on the inside. It was as if someone took her life and all was left was her shell. She laid on the bed and curled up.

Chris stared at her and sighed. He wanted this shit to be over, he was done running. If he had to murk every nigga in Cali he would. He didn’t give a fuck.

Chris made sure Liana was sleep before slipping into the hallway. He immediately dialed Rashad’s number. “Yo.” Rashad answered, he was high.

“I need plane tickets; we’re flying back. I’m putting an end to this shit.”

“Nigga, what?” Rashad asked, flabbergasted.

“Make them for Friday. That’s four days from now, gives me time to figure this shit out.”

“You’re fucking crazy. I know you’re fearless Chris, but this nigga is dangerous. You’re better off out there. I don’t want shit to happen to you.”

“They already found us out here man.” Chris sighed, dropping his head back.

“Shit.”

“Yeah, get those tickets. I’ll call you back.” Chris hung up before he could respond. He was getting irritated. This nigga was doing too much; he was too powerful and this situation was a fucking mess. Chris just wanted to live his life and not have to look over his shoulder every other minute. He shook off the irritation as best as he could before facing Liana again. He yawned and walked back in the room stripping down and getting in the bed with Liana. She was pretending to be sleep because she didn’t want him asking questions, she just wanted to lay there forever. He pulled her body onto his. For the first time, he noticed faint bruises around her neck. He ran his finger over them, his rage was building then. The more he thought about what might have happened, the angrier he got. “I’m going to keep you safe. I gotta keep my baby safe.” Chris mumbled against her neck.

Liana knew she was supposed to be pretending to be sleep, but she failed once tears started rolling down her face. “I called for you and you weren’t there. I needed you Chris.”

“I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry.” Chris shook his head, holding her tighter.

“They held me down while each one of them forced themselves into me. I tried fighting back, it was no use. It hurt so badly. I was trying to save myself for you, I felt like you were good enough to have my virginity, but they took it. Black took it. He didn’t deserved my pureness but he forced himself into me and each time I screamed, I screamed for you—he just did it harder, he would punch me but I kept calling for you. I tried fighting back but they just held me down. I got weak, my body ached so badly, but I didn’t give up. I still called for you. Even after it was all over, I called for you. You came Chris, you finally came. He told me if I was still there when he got back you would never be able to find me—that you had six hours and after that, I was his forever. But you came. I’m so happy you came.” Liana cried as Chris stared at her and held her tight. It was final, there would no longer be a state called California. He was going to blow that bitch up. He didn’t care anymore.

“The note said he wanted his money. Did he mention anything to you about money?” Liana shook her head. “You know what the guys looked like?”

“Chris, it’s over. “

“Describe them to me Liana.” Chris gritted out, he stared at her hard.

“Please don’t g—”

Now.”

“They all were tatted up. One had a mole on his nose. Another had a piercing on his lip. All of them had a bunch of tats, but one was the same on each. It said DBF in weird writing. Black had it too. It was on their neck.” Liana explained. Chris closed his eyes and tried to picture them all. He remember one of the guys at the house he bombed, had a tattoo like that on his neck, but he didn’t have a lot of tats. He couldn’t have been one of them. DBF must be their gang; Black’s Gang.

Before Liana could say anything else, she jumped up and ran to the bathroom to throw up everything that was left in her stomach; which wasn’t much cause she barely ate. She sat on the seat as Chris came into the bathroom. “What?” He asked as she stared at him.

“What’s the date?”

“The twenty-fifth.” Liana thought hard. Her period was supposed to start today. But maybe she was just a little late. The doctor said she wasn’t pregnant so she had nothing to worry about.“You okay?”

“Yeah, just hungry.” Liana half lied. Chris nodded, Liana walked out the bathroom and he stayed. His thoughts were all fucked up still.

When he went back into the bedroom, Liana wasn’t in there. He grabbed the phone off the bed and called Rashad back. “Hello?” Rashad answered.

“Make the flight for tomorrow and remember that grenade you gave me? I need about thirty more.”

“Thirty fucking grenades?!” Rashad yelled into the phone and mumbled “crazy ass nigga.” too low for Chris to hear.

“I’m done with the games. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Chris spat before hanging up. Black had no idea who he was fucking with.
