“Baby,” Chris mumbled, kissing Liana’s forehead. She grunted a few times, before pulling the covers over her face.

Chrisss…” Liana complained once he pulled them off her. “Go back to sleep.”

“Baby,” Chris smiled, still kissing on her. She finally opened her eyes shooting him a hard glare, he just chuckled. “I gotta go, I’ll be back a little later okay?”

Liana frowned, rolling her eyes and folding her arms. “Whatever.” She shot, her attitude clear.

Chris still kept that grin across his face. He found her reaction amusing and thought it was cute that she wanted him to stay, but he couldn’t. He had business to take care of; business, that in the long run, would keep his family safe from the problems they were mistakenly dragged into.

He tried to kiss her on her lips, but she moved her head to the side and instead he kissed her cheek. His smile dropped, he used his fingers to gently turn her face towards him. “Don’t be like that, I love you. I’ll be back in an hour tops.”

“I love you too.” Liana mumbled looking away. Chris shrugged, getting off the bed and walking out the room. Liana heard Chris and Maurice talking but they were too far away for her to make out what they were saying. Suddenly she heard the front door close and seconds later Maurice came running into the room, jumping on the bed. “Maurice!” Liana scolded, staring at him. He just giggled, just like Chris did when Liana called his name. “Like father, like son.” Liana shook her head.

“Sorry mommy, but daddy said you gonna make me some breakfast.” Maurice smiled from ear-to-ear.

Liana sighed. “Let me go brush my teeth and wash my face and I’ll make you some okay?” Maurice nodded his head, running out the room as Liana got up to go take care of her hygiene. She limped to the bathroom, cursing Chris out in her head every time felt the pain in her legs as she walked. When she got done brushing her teeth, she stared at herself in the mirror, looking at the dark colored hickies on her neck and chest. She smiled a little bit before taking the wash cloth, moving the soap around in it and washing her face. “What ya want to eat?” Liana asked as she walked into the kitchen. Maurice was sitting at the island, playing his Nintendo DS. She ran her fingers through his hair as she waited for him to answer.

“Umm, pancakes, bacon and eggs.” He answered, not looking up from the game.

“What game are you playing?”

“Dogs,” Maurice mumbled. “you have your own house and you take care of your dog. You can choose any dog you want. I choose the pit bull.” Maurice explained.

Liana laughed a little bit while beating the eggs. “Why you choose a pit?”

“Because that’s the kind of dog I want.”

“Your daddy used to have a pit when you were a baby. Her name was Diamond.”

“Where is she at?” Maurice wondered. For the first time, he looked up from the game.

“Before we moved to Mexico, your dad gave her away.”

“Can we get another one mommy?” Maurice jumped down from the seat. “Please, please, please, please?” He hugged her legs and she laughed, picking him up.

“I’m not a big fan of dogs baby.”

Maurice frowned. “Mommy, please?”

“I’ll talk to your dad about it okay?”

Maurice nodded and Liana let him down. “I’m gonna get a pit! I’m gonna get a pit!” Maurice chanted, doing a happy dance and jumping up and down. Liana laughed. She poured the butter in the pan and waited for it to melt. Before she could pour the eggs in the pan, the door bell rang. “I got it, I got it!” Maurice said running toward. Liana couldn’t protest in time, Maurice already had the door open. “Who are you?” Maurice asked with wide eyes. Ace just grinned, walking into the house, he was alone this time.
