The sun had set on a very beautiful May evening. The cool breeze that ruffled the trees added to the pleasant, ending of the day. As Liana pulled into her reserved parking spot, she gathered her things. She had just come a long day of working and food shopping and wanted nothing more than to cook herself a nice hot meal and relax in bed until tomorrow came and she had to wake up and began her work routine again.

Just as she went to get the last brown paper bag that was filled with delectable food items, she heard screeching tires not to far from where she stood. A deep frown plastered on her face as she saw an all black car speeding her way. The tented windows and unregistered plates had her mind running a mile a minute.

Quickly, she used her hip to close her car door, fumbling with the bags to get her house key out her purse. She cursed out loud as the car got closer. Her palms became clammy and before she could step onto the cement properly, the car was nearly behind her. The windows rolled down and the loud piercing of gunshots rang throughout the neighborhood.

She shrieked, dropping whatever she had in her hands and running in the opposite direction on trembling legs. The folks in her area had heard the gunshots, causing them to retreat back in their houses where they hoped to be safe. Liana, on the other hand, obviously was not.

She heard the tires screech once more and before she knew it, the black car was turning the corner, making her movement come to a complete stop. Her eyes were filled with tears as her body trembled vigorously. She turned her back to the car, running back in the direction she had just come from; bad move.

The bullets were flying all around her, hitting mailboxes, windows, cars. If she was smart, she would’ve ditched her heels a long time ago, but instead, the six inch stiletto heel caught the sidewalk crack, causing her to fall face first into the cement. The fall did her no justice as she skinned her knees and a piece of glass dug into her palm. On top of that, a wandering bullet found its way into her shoulder, causing her to scream out loud as the burning sensation seeped through her entire body.

She decided to play safe as best as she could; tugging her body underneath a car until the creepers shooting at her was out of sight. After a while, she lost most feeling in her body and she felt her throat close up making it hard for her to call out for help.

It wasn’t long before she was out cold.
