“Why you do her like that?” TJ asked Chris.

Chris shrugged his shoulders, rolling his eyes. “Because the bitch act like she ain’t got any sense.”

“Still though, that’s your baby mama bro. You—”

Chris threw his hands up in the air, cutting TJ off. “I don’t wanna hear this shit man.”

TJ sighed, shaking his head. He reached for the unlit blunt that was sitting on the counter and grabbed it. Pulling the lighter out his pocket, he lit the blunt and put it in his mouth. He took a few long drags before passing it to Chris. “Listen bro, what you do is your business, but just remember you have a son that looks up to you.”

Chris nodded his head in agreement while hitting the blunt. “Her eyes were red ass shit when she came in the room.” Chris mumbled.

“I noticed that too.”

“I didn’t bother to question it though; I was more worried about why the hell she ain’t have no damn clothes on.”

“You think she was high?” Chris nodded his head then closed his eyes as he let the weed work his system. “High off what, weed don’t do that. I was shaking her for a minute, she was out cold bro. Kind of like when you pass out from drinking too much, but it ain’t that, we would have smelled the liquor.” TJ explained. He looked over at Chris as Chris shook his head.

“I don’t know but I’m about to find out.” Chris mumbled, standing up. He started for the stairs but TJ grabbed his arms.

“Don’t hit her though nigga.” TJ advised. Chris rolled his eyes snatching away his arm and heading up the stairs.

“Mommy you okay?” Maurice asked climbing on the bed and holding liana.

“Yeah, mommy’s fine.” Liana said as she sniffled and wiped her tears.

“Then why you crying?”

“I’m not crying baby. My allergies are messing up.” Liana lied holding Maurice in her arms. His little fingers meet together on her back as his head rested on her chest. She closed her eyes taking a deep breath then opened them.

When Chris walked into the room, they both looked up but didn’t move. Chris sat on the edge of the bed running his hands over his face. “Lil man come here.” Maurice got up and walked over to Chris.

“Do me a favor and go play while I talk to mommy okay?” Chris said, muzzling Maurice hair.

“Okay.”

After the door shut, Chris looked over at Liana. They made eye contact for a moment, then, Liana broke it, shaking her head in disgust. She laid down under the covers and put the pillow over her head. Chris chuckled before getting up and walking to her side of the bed. He pulled the covers off her slowly then removed the pillow. “Li,” Chris mumbled, grabbing her arms and pulling her up so that she was sitting up. He sat down and she attempted to get up but he pulled her back down and onto his lap. “I’m sorry baby.” Chris whispered in her ear.

“You promised you’d never hit me again.” Liana cried, letting the tears roll down her cheeks.

“I know and I’m sorry baby. You know you pissed me off with that lying shit but still I shouldn’t have hit you and I’m sorry.” Chris kissed on her neck.

“This is becoming a habit for you though…”

“How, I haven’t put my hands on you in years, but you’ve been tempting me for a minute. Your little mood swings and all that bullshit. Every time you at Madison’s house, you disappear for hours you don’t answer my damn calls and shit. Now you out all night, walking around naked, on top of that; you lied about the shit. It all just added up and I lost control, but it won’t happen again, I promise baby.” Liana sighed, closing her eyes as she put her head on Chris shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing her slightly bruised face softly. Liana got off his lap and laid down on the bed. Chris got on top of her, kissing every inch of her body. He really did feel bad for hitting her but sometimes Liana just got him to that point. He ran his fingers over her cheeks then mumbled I’m sorry against them. Liana wrapped her hands around Chris waist, kissing his neck.“Mm stop…” Chris grunted, grabbing her hands. He kissed her one last time before getting off of her completely.

Chrissssss… Liana whined and pouted.

“Nah, we gotta talk.”

“About what?”

Chris laid down on his side, pulling her next to him. He put his left hand on her waist and the other behind her head then kissed her lips. “I’ma ask you something and if you tell the truth, I won’t get mad, if you lie, I will, and this conversation will go downhill okay?” Chris mumbled softly.

“Okay…” Liana gulped.

“Are you on drugs?” Chris asked as he looked into her eyes. Liana hesitated for a while then shook her head no, Chris squint his eyes at her and she broke eye contact. For some reason, she began crying. Tears wandered down her face and Chris wiped them, kissing her cheeks.“Stop crying,” Chris whispered. “stop crying…”

“I’m sorry.” Liana cried, pressing her face against Chris chest. “Don’t be mad at me. Don’t leave me, please.”

“I’m not going to leave you, Liana but I am going to get you help.” Chris sighed. He tried to kiss her again but she moved her head.

“I don’t need help, I can quit on my own.”

“No you can’t. If people could quit on their own, there wouldn’t be any fucking rehabs.” Chris spat, growing agitated.

What-the-fuck-ever. You’re not checking me into a rehab.”

“I know, I never said I was. I just said I was getting you help.”

“I don’t need help!” Liana screamed. She got up out the bed, and headed towards the bathroom.

“You’re getting help, end of discussion.”

“Whatever, I hate you!” Liana slammed the bathroom door. Chris stayed on the bed for a minute staring after her and processing everything that just took place.

Just when you think everything’s all good, everything turns all bad.
