"If Nana Rose keeps telling those kids this story they're going to think that I'm some kind of hero." (Y/n) leaned on the kitchen counter. "Which I'm not."
Grace, her mother, laughed. "Let her go, these stories are the only things she has left."
"She has us, mom."
"At 125 Years you'd do nothing but tell stories too, especially if you lived in those times." Grace continued to stir the pot of soup over the gas oven.
Nana Rose was (Y/n)'s great great grandmother. She was one of the few, if not last person that had lived through the initial take over. She and her husband were the birth of the rebellion but had long since retired.
"If it wasn't for her we wouldn't be here, let alone living in an up to date neighborhood. Nana says this one is a lot like the one she used to live in."
(Y/n) leaned on her elbow. "I know, mom. She told me so much about it I could probably build it myself if I want to."
Grace laughed. "Why don't you go and get your nieces and nephew, dinner is about ready."
"Anything to save them from the ear torture."
She lazily stood up from the table and walked into the living room. (Y/n) had a brother named Dean, who's an only father. His wife was killed in battle fighting a demon. He was left with his twin daughters Lily and Cas and older son Ivan.
"Alright, rug-rats. Dinner is almost ready, let's leave Nana alone for now."
"Come on kids!" Grace encouraged from the kitchen.
All three children got up and ran excitedly to their Grandmother. They adored her just as much as Dean did. (Y/n) watched them with a smile spread across her face.
"Ahh there she is," Nana Rose began. "The leading lady."
(Y/n) eyes rolled till they met her Nana's. "Why do you keep telling them this story, Nana?"
"Because the story is true. You know more than anyone."
She crossed her arms. "But me, bringing down the Demon Hierarchy? Bringing back worlds peace? Nana, we're decades away from that."
"No, we aren't. The time is near, (Y/n)."
"Then why not Dean, he's older, stronger, faster—"
"And a moron, dear."
(Y/n) smiled at her remark, then sat down next to the old woman. "You outlived Grammy, and Mamam, what's your secret?"
Rose lifted her hand and gently rubbed her chin. She had long white hair that was braided down her side. "My secret? It's revenge. It's the satisfaction seeing Mr. D suffer as much as I and millions of others had."
"So, what, if he dies you're going to croak?"
Rose looked over at her great-great-granddaughter and hit her playfully. "Can't get rid of me that easily. I used to be just like you when I started out."
"Please don't tell me your story," (Y/n) groaned.
"When the war initially started your great-great-grandfather and I were in Los Angeles, California, well, formally known as."
A long and bored groan left (Y/n)'s mouth as Nana Rose continued.
"Yes, when the peace agreement was denied for the 7th time the US launched its first attack. Luckily your Pap had a cabin a few hours north, at the edge of the state. It was a start. There we used his wine cellar to hold those in need, helping all we could. We found out shortly after we were pregnant—"
