Maximus Lennox worked alongside Cor Leonis in the Kingsglaive and was close friends with his highness King Regis Lucis Caelum. He was loved and admired by his own comrades, even the people of Insomnia. The man was strict and had shown little patience for unruly behavior.
He was cruel yet kind in his own way. Teaching young men and women with the potential to become something greater than themselves.
The Lennox family was known as the Swordsmen of Lucis. Providing the royal family with unimaginable arsenals. They helped mold the land the great city stands on now.
But blacksmithing and swordsmanship was not the only thing they were known for, it was their companions that set them apart from any normal noble.
Wolves
It is said that the very first members of the Lennox family came to this land in search of great ores to help create new pieces of metal. It was there that they met them. The divine beings took the form of nearly colossal wolves.
At first, they were weary of each other. The wolves were protectors of the land, it just so happens that the very soil held the precious minerals that could grant future weapons magical properties.
Now, the land was known to inhabit the godlike creatures so the family came to make a proposition. They could join together and help protect the land in exchange for precious minerals.
In the end, it was settled, the Lennoxs and wolves created a bond the can never break unless broken by the wielder.
Together they form legendary warriors known as Sentinels. This tradition has been passed down for many ages. They became the royal families shadow as to protect these sacred knights. Not many people knew about them, only learning about them through stories. It was a selected few who truly knew of their existence. The prince, Regis at the time, was not included.
It was during the war between Insomnia and Niflheim, that King Regis and his comrades had met Maximus Lennox and his wolf companion Macko. They became friends as time in the war progressed and soon took his rightful place as the young king's trusted shadow.
The truth about the Lennox family resurfaced as they fought alongside the Lucian army against Niflheim.
But it was in vain.
The Lucian army had been defeated and was forced to return to the Crown city to reinforce their walls and protect the people as well as what was left of their army.
It would not go the same for the Lennoxs, for they were nearly wiped out along with their mystic companions. This left only Maximus and Macko to be the last of their kind. (To their knowledge)
Once again the sacred family faded back to stories and legend. Maximus and Macko began to serve their King living the rest of their days thinking they were the last.
That is until his wife gave birth to a child a few months before the new prince of Insomnia.
