19: Searching in the Dark

After Noctis received the powers of the first king, he and the others left along with Cor.

The Marshall had revealed that another crypt was located near by at the Keycatrich Trench.

//Time Skip//

Once the group got closer to the trench, (Yn) and the others marveled at the sight of it.

"Long ago we waged a fierce battle against the Empire." Cor stated. "It all went to ruin. And after that, the Empire moved in like they owned the place."

Comming to the entrance of cave the group stopped as Cor spoke, "This is where we go our separate ways. Take this key, it unlocks the doors to the other tombs. Seek out the power of your ancestors, you'll need it." He finished tossing Noctis the key.

"And what will you do?" The prince asked.

"Keep an eye on the nifs, see what they're up to. But you should focus on your own task." With that Cor left the six to themselves.

Going deeper into the cave Noctis led the way as the temperature began to drop.

"Look there's a door!" Prompto pointed out causing Macko's ears to perk up. Ignis deduced that this place used to be a shelter.

This made the blonde pop a question that made the everyone's hairs stand on the back on their necks.

" I wonder if anyone still lives here?"

The place was dark as it was, but now there's a possibility that someone or something was in the dark with them. (Yn) shook her head of these thoughts because she felt something weird under her foot. "Hey a cable." She spoke making Prompto and Macko start to follow it.

"Very well let us see what this reveals." Ignis followed.

Macko took the lead until he came to a stop, he sniffed it before calling out, "Hey I found something!"

They group came to find a generator. Tuning it on, the cave seemed to light up. Going farther into the cave was a little less scary. Prompto stayed close to (Yn) as she looked to be less scared, however it was just a facade because she was freaking out on the inside.

"H-Hey don't walk so close prom! You stepped on the heel of my shoe ya ding!" (Yn) said bending down to fix her shoe. Before Prompto could retaliate a sound got all their attentions silencing them.

"Eepp! W-what was that?!" He whimpered now holding onto the short girls arm. "Whoops my bad." Gladios smirked at the two scaredy cats. Looking up the roof began to drop little pebbles.

"If it's all the same to you I don't want to be buried alive" Prompto said still clinging onto a now annoyed/worried (Yn). Ignis chuckled starting to lead the others away from the unstable area. "Then let us go quickly."

Noctis glanced at how Prompto practically hung on (Yn). It was funny, her expression was priceless. She deadpanned as she continued on, letting the boy squeeze her. But as they kept going something else was bugging him in the back of his head. Was it...irritation? Why? Nothing was really happening and yet something about the way she let Prompto hold her arm made him conflicted. Noctis hadn't noticed he had been staring at (Yn) for a while until he saw her looking back at him with a questioning look. Their eyes met for only a moment before he smirked at her while pointing at Prompto who seemed rather freaked out still.

(Yn) pouted at Noc before sticking her tongue out at him. Macko stayed behind watching the scene unfold with a smile.

Prompto kept calling out to see if anyone was 'home', even going as far as asking if anyone had died down here. At this point (Yn) had already yanked the guy off of her. "Shut up!" She whisper yelled. Gladios called him a wuss making the blonde protest until loud bangs rapped on the metal walls.

"Something messing with us." Gladios spoke as he looked around them.

To (Yn) and Prompto's dismay they went towards the hall where the noise came from. Noctis entered first but then the rocky ceiling shook loose almost falling on him. Macko quickly lept forward yanking the prince back and out of the way.

Everyone let out a sigh of relief as they helped Noctis to his feet. "T-thanks Mac."

The wolf simply used his hined leg to scratch his ear, "Yeah yeah, be careful."

Leaving the room they continued down the hall. Going up some stairs they came upon something... new? Just then Goblins jumped out of a hole and attacked. They all jumped into swift battle killing them. At least they now knew what was down there with them.They then crawled through a tight hole in the wall, each one slipped past. Though it was funny to see Gladios's thicc body squeeze through and get stuck.

Opening a big door led to a bigger room, just then an Arachne dropped down infront of them. (Yn) summoned a sword, Macko bared his teeth at the creature, fur turning black. Everyone began to fight. Even though it had been some time, everyone fought in perfect harmony. However because of the size of the room it limited most of their movements. The 'spider lady', as Prompto like to call it, jumped up and landed causing fire and electricity to shatter the ground. Noctis fell back with a grunt. (Yn) slid infront of him with her blade held up stopping the monsters stinger. "Look out Noc!" She yelled. The prince jumped to his feet immediately assisting her "Nice! Thanks (Yn)!"

Together the two landed the final blow. Everyone cheered as they gathered around the two. (Yn) lightly blushed at their praise hiding it with a closed eye smile. "C'mon guys it took all of our strength to kill it."

Noctis shook his head," Still your as quick as ever." He mused making the girl laugh even more red faced. She held her hand to his clasping together with wide grins. This was something they used to do as kids after a friendly spar. In that short moment they both felt as though they were kids again. And there was something else. A whole other feeling that was foreign to both of them. However because of this, (Yn) was the first to let go, failing to see Noctis's small frown, she looked to the side. But as she did this she noticed another hole in the in the wall. "Hey what's that?"

Everyone walked over to it before crawling through. On the other side was a large door that was similar to the one at the first tomb. Noctis took out the key and opened it revealing the other ancient king in the center.

This weapon appeared to be a battle axe. The prince raised his hand, making the weapon light up and fly into his chest. It dispersed into tiny crystals before floating around Noctis along side the sword.

Another power of the Great Kings had been bestowed upon the Prince. With that done, the six returned to the entrance of the cave. In search of the remaining weapons.
