^^^Dedicated to Pearson for being an awesome friend. Thank you for always being honest.

I stood up in my five inch heels, trying to keep my wits about me. I had consumed about five shots and I was feeling it slightly. I decided that if I was going to drink any more, I should be with people I know. “I need you, Derek. Where are you?” I sent the message to his head. I wasn’t sure he would respond, but I figured it would be worth a try. He responded immediately.

“I’m in my office working on some important paperwork. I’ll send Lucas to get you and I’ll meet you in my suite. You’re at the bar, right?” I could hear the smirk in his voice.

“I don’t want your body guard coming to get me.” I thought back to the first night I’d met Derek and the power his vampire guards exuded. I would rather just get directions to get there myself. So, I told him so. “Your guards give me the creeps. Just tell me how to get there.”

“Marcilla, you’re drunk. I’m not going to have you walking around by yourself. Lucas is already on his way.”

“I am not drunk,” I replied, defiantly. I knew he wouldn’t even go for my retort.

     “Stay where you are.”

I sighed, knowing I had already lost this battle. There was no way I could win against Derek. He was always a step ahead of me. I was just glad I had him on my side though. Lucas approached me cautiously. I figured Derek had warned him that I was slightly tipsy.

I went to take a step, but felt my body falling in slow motion. I imagined my face colliding with the floor and felt my face contort. I must have looked ridiculous and it made me almost feel bad for Lucas. Luckily, his arm was there to help me. I was trying to remember if I had actually only had five shots. Maybe I did loose count once or twice. I wanted to hit myself in the head, but I knew I would look like a complete idiot doing something like that.

Lucas didn’t seem to mind my small hand tucked into his arm, so I kept it there as we made our way to Derek’s office. He wearily glanced my way several times. It gave me the impression that he would rather be guarding than babysitting. This was my first time ever seeing the back office and I was completely amazed at the size. It seemed to be the extent of my small apartment, doubling as an office and rest area. Lucas left me in the bedroom to rest my head, and I didn’t want to disturb Derek during his work.

I observed the room around me. The plush rug under the king sized canopy bed caught my attention first. It was a rich black and looked extremely soft. I decided to test out this idea and took my shoes off. Running my feet through the fibers of the rug made me want to melt. The red bedding looked so inviting. I could resist the urge to throw myself on it. I actually surprised myself with these feelings until I remembered that I had taken in too much alcohol. Looking around, I noticed that the furniture was mahogany and the gold picture frames accented everything perfectly. My body easily relaxed back into the comfy bed.

I was sleeping peacefully when I felt lips lightly brush my temple. I knew it had to be Derek, so I smiled lightly and brought my arms around his neck. Opening my eyes, I was mesmerized by his beautiful eyes. They never ceased to amaze me. It was moments like this that made me realize I could be the happiest woman in the world if I were to accept his love.

“I’m so happy that you are in my life. I think I’m falling for you.” I knew that he needed to know how much I truly appreciated him always being there for me.

He pulled back and searched my face to see if it was just the alcohol talking. “Are you still drunk, Marcilla?”

I smiled and laughed lightly. “No. I know what I’m saying. I’ll even repeat it in the morning for you.”
