Before we headed back into town, my father motioned his hand to the right. He pulled over and so did the rest. My eyes glanced around in confusion. What exactly where we doing now?
Juice came to slow and steady stop, his eyes gazing towards me in concern. "Everything okay, Jax?"
I looked at my fathers head and watch it shake. "Yeah! Me and Wen are gonna go grab something to eat." Clay glanced at me and then back to his son. "I'll be back around nine." My father said with finalization. He revved up his Dyna and took off, making me cling onto him in surprise. I wasn't ready for him to just take off like that.
"Where are we going?!" I hollered over the engine. The thrill of the ride bringing a smile upon my face once again. I never felt more safe in this moment.
"Just wait and see!" He chuckled carefree.
I shook my head in disbelief and stopped as a small idea popped in my head. Slowly, I pulled my arms back from his waist and brought them to his hips. I had stopped at first but then went full force of the idea as I let go completely, my hands spread out wide. I closed my eyes peacefully as the sound of the engine lulled me into bliss.
Suddenly, with a quick flick of his wrist, my father grabbed my arm and hooked it around him. I didn't need to be told twice to hook my other arm around him. "Don't you ever do that again!"
I sighed as the blissful feeling was gone. I didn't mean for him to get angry, I just wanted to know what it felt like to ride a motorcycle and just be at peace with it. It was just a thought. "Sorry." I mumbled into the Reaper that protected his back. We didn't say anything after that and I couldn't help but stare the reaper into its eyes. It stared back and to be honest, I didn't see anything scary about it, I found comfort while it stared back at me.
This was who I was gonna be one day.
One day, I'll ride next to my father.
As he turned the corner he rode the bike into a steady pace until he did a small U-turn and backed into a spot with me on back. I glanced behind me to see a white, brick building. It was a small local diner the name flabbergasted me a little -"The Big Burger". I had never heard of this place before. None of my friends mentioned the diner either. It was probably just some cheap hole in the wall that served good food. Usually places like this always had the best.
It had only two, wide, pearly white windows that wrapped around the building. It looked homey. The small shrubs and flowers were neatly kept and contained. Everything was bloomed and alive.
I got off of the bike and handed my father his helmet which he had placed on his seat. He then guided me to the front of the building, before I touched the black handle he had quickly shot out in front of me and held it open for me. He smiled at my annoyance. "After you."
I let out a small chuckle as the bell above me rang loudly as we entered the building. I sighed in relief as the AC was on with full blast. It felt nice in here and my god, did it smell amazing. I didn't even realize that I was partially hungry until I smelt the mouth watering smell of food.
A young women pranced forward with a large, enthusiastic smile upon her face. Her blonde hair fell in waves around her face as they bounced with her steps. She wore a black button up shirt with a black skirt. I adored her flats and as she walked forward, her eyes were only on one thing, and that wasn't me. Those baby blue eyes were on my fathers. "Hi! I'm Kelly! I'm be your waitress for today. How many?"
I rose an eyebrow in aggravation. I was clearly right in front of her and she still found the need to ask. But my anger faded as I realized she was just doing her job and if I was with anyone else, they'd ask the same thing. Instead of myself answering, it was my father. "Just two, darling."
