My Ever After

Chapter Eighteen

Instead of staying at the gala for the date Rylan and I left. We drove to the beach and walked for a while just talking. After that we went to go and grab some food. We chose to just grab burgers. People gave us weird looks because we were still in our clothes from the gala. I didn't mind though. After eating Rylan started driving somewhere.

"Rylan, where are we going?"

"I want to take you somewhere special."

I nodded. It made me happy knowing that he wanted to take me somewhere special. To me it felt like I was special to him. We pulled into a parking spot and I looked out the window. I was in awe. You could see the entire city from up here.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"This is Hiker's Peak. A lot of people come here and hike the trails and other just come to see the view."

"I can see. It is a magnificent view. So why is this place special to you?"

"When I was younger, if I had any problems, this is where I would come. I once ran away from home when I was 15 because I thought that my parents weren't paying enough attention to me. I came here and ended up sleeping here for a few nights. Looking back now it seems kind of stupid because they were just doing what they had to in order to provide for my siblings and I."

"So it is your thinking spot? Your relaxing oasis?"

"That it is."

"So why share it with me?"

"Because you mean a lot to me and I want this to be something that we can share together. No-one else knows about it."

"I am the first person you brought here?"

"You are." He smiled at me.

I felt like the happiest girl in the world.

"Elizabeth. It has been a while now and my feelings are growing for you every day so I want to ask you. Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes Rylan. I will be your girlfriend." I smiled and kissed him.

Now I am the happiest girl in the world.

"We should probably get back. The gala is going to be ending soon and I am sure you need to get Emmie. Would you two stay at my place from now on?"

"If you really want us to then we will."

He smiled a big smile. We got in the car and drove back to his parents house. When we arrived everyone was already there. I grabbed Emmie and we went to get some clothes for the night and tomorrow.

"Emmie go and tell Mallory and Harrison that you will see them tomorrow. We are going to stay with Colton tonight."

"Really?"

I nodded then she ran and hugged them and told them bye. She has grown to love them like they are her own grandparents and I knew then that even if Rylan and I don't work out I could never take her away from them. We got in the car and about 15 minutes into the ride Emmie got sleepy.

"Momma?"

"Yes baby?"

"Will Rylan be my new daddy?"

I looked over at Rylan to see if he would freeze or something, but he didn't instead he said,

"Emmie. I would love to be your dad, if things work out that way."

It made Emmie smile and she closed her eyes. I smiled.

"Do you really mean that?"

"Of course I do. I want us to try a relationship. I want to always be there for you. I would like to think in the future that we are still together, but for now we will take it day by day. I did mean every word I said to Emmie though."
