Chapter Nineteen

I went about my day as if nothing was wrong. I didn't want to think about the fact that Trent had actually sent the papers. I couldn't let him get custody of Emmie. He has done nothing for her and now he wants her? I just don't get it.

All throughout the day people were coming up to me and talking about my relationship with Rylan. Most girls assumed that I was just another slut, but they are just jealous. Unlike them, I didn't sleep my way into what I have now. At the end of the day we left and went to his parents house.

"Hello Harrison." I said sadly.

"Hello dear. What is the mattter?"

"Trent sent the papers to get custody of Emmie. I just haven't been dealing with it too well."

"Oh dear. We have some of the best lawyers and we have a meeting with them soon. I am sure we can make it to where he doesn't get anything."

I was hoping that was true. As much as I did want Trent to get to know Emmie, he has six years to do so and now when I am finally at a good place in life he wants to screw that up. I was at my limit. I just needed it all to go away.

"Elizabeth. Your parents are coming over for dinner will you be staying too?" Mallory asked.

"Of course. Who all will be here?"

"Everyone, including Theo and Anna."

"Sounds lovely"

I went upstairs to get new clothes for dinner tonight. I am glad that our families have been getting along really well. This is what I had always hoped for. Having a boyfriends whose family accepted me and my family. Not saying that Trent's parents didn't accept us. They did. Things just got really tense when Trent signed his rights away. I didn't blame them. Here is his ex girlfriend pregnant with his child and he wanted nothing to do with us. His parents were stuck between siding with their son, but also feeling bad about him just dumping me the way he did.

"Everyone is downstairs. You ready to eat?"

"Yea."

I smiled and followed Rylan down the stairs. When we got into the dining room I was shocked to see that Trent's parents were here too. If they were here that meant they knew about what he was doing. I just didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

"Mr. and Mrs. Culver. What a pleasant surprise." I said.

"Oh Elizabeth dear, it has been too long. How are you doing?"

"I have been doing pretty good. I assume you know what Trent is doing?"

"We do and we want to say sorry for that. He just woke up one day and was like "I have a daughter and I want to get to know her. We tried to talk him out of going straight to a lawyer and to talking to you first, but he didn't listen."

"It is okay. I understand."

"We still feel terrible about it."

"Please don't. I was actually thinking about it today."

"Yea?"

"Yea. I don't want to keep Emmie from knowing her biological father. It would make me seem like a terrible mother if I did that. I mean he isn't an alcoholic, doesn't do drugs or any other illegal activities. I mean, if he does then there is no way in hell he will be getting Emmie, but he seems pretty straight to me. I am willing to let him meet with me and talk about. I just don't want his current girlfriend around."

"Oh her.  Yea we don't like her either."

"Well if you can talk to him and tell him that I am willing to meet to talk about it that would be great."
