Chapter Twenty Eight

Rylan's Point Of View

The zoo was amazing. Spending it with the people that will be my family soon was a great way to spend the day.  I watched as Emmie and Elizabeth's eyes lit up looking at and talking about the animals. Elizabeth let it be a learning day for Emmie. It was the cutest thing to watch.

We went home and just relaxed for the rest of the day. I could picture Elizabeth doing that with our kids. I can't wait for us to have kids, but we just got engaged and I don't want to pressure her for more children. 

"Hey mister. What do you have on your mind?"

"I am just thinking about how incredibly happy I am."

Elizabeth smiled at me. 

"I am very happy too." She came and sat in my lap.

I liked that she became comfortable making bold moves like that. 

"So what is on the agenda for today?"

"I have a meeting with Luke. I actually think you should be there because it involves money for the company."

"What's been going on?"

"Someone is taking money from the company. I have to figure out who it is."

"I bet it would be Laken or Taryn."

"I don't think they are smart enough to do something like that."

"Good point. I would be happy to take a look at it."

"Good. You are really good at your job."

"Let's be honest. With everything that has happened I have not been doing my job and we both know it. I have been slacking off."

"And that is okay. You have been through a lot. I would let other people take this much time off if they had stuff like that happening in their life. Don't think I was just doing it because you are my girl. I will still treat you like everyone else in the office."

"I know that. I just think for the next few weeks I will have to work extra hard and maybe stay late a couple of days to catch up on work."

"If that is what you want to do I won't stop you."

"Good, but I wasn't really giving you a choice here." She laughed.

Her laugh was amazing. I loved hearing her laugh. I loved seeing her smile. It makes my entire day and it makes me want to smile and laugh as well. I do not know how I got so lucky to have her. 

"Rylan, you keep spacing out. What is on your mind?"

"I am just thinking about your smile and laugh and how much I love it." I saw her blush.

"Stop. You're too kind."

"I am just being honest." I smiled at her.

We spent the day just lounging around the house. Tomorrow we had to get back to work and I didn't want to get out of this bubble we were in. It is nice and happy in this bubble, but I knew we had to work and get back to reality. 

We went to bed that night and I wanted to know where she stood on having children in the future, but when I went to ask her about it I just froze. I was scared that she would tell me she didn't want anymore children. She cuddled closer to me and I felt her breathing lightly. I loved this. Soon after her I fell asleep too.

The next day at work there were a lot of people looking at us. I knew it was because we always arrived together and I am sure that people know we are engaged by now. Elizabeth told me bye and went straight to her office. She went right into work because she had a huge pile of papers on her desk. She was right. She had been slacking off and I had been letting it happen. She looked so good when she was working. She just looked so sexy when she was focused. I walked to my office and began to work. Not too long after that Laken came into my office.
