Chapter Thirty Six

Rylan's Point Of View

I was out with my brother and Luke. We wanted to have one last night together before the babies came. I did not expect for parenting to be easy. Not at all, but I read some stories online from parents and what they went through and how the handled things. To say that I was scarred would be an understatement. There was one parent who talked about waking up and going to their child's room to find shit smeared everywhere. It made me feel like I wasn't prepared at all. All the diaper changes, up all nights, crying, the tantrums as toddlers. I was starting to feel like I wasn't cut out for parenting, but then I looked at Elizabeth and remembered that she went through all this alone and only with one child, so I figured it is two of us taking on three. We can do this.

"So Rylan. Are you ready to be a dad?" Luke asked.

"I am. I won't lie and say that I am not scared shitless though."

"Well you are having three babies." Theo added.

"I know, but I will have Elizabeth's help. She has been through this once before. She can correct me if I do something wrong."

"I can't believe how you treated her at first." Luke said.

"Me either and to this day I still feel really bad about it. I can spend our entire lives making it up to her though."

"Yea. About that. Are you ready to be married?"

"I never felt more ready in my life. I want this and I want it with Elizabeth. She makes me happy."

"Man, you are getting all mushy on us dude." Theo said.

It was true. I am totally whipped by my fiance. Now that I have here I can't imagine my life without her and now we are going to have four amazing children. I already consider Emmie mine. With her real dad being in the picture, I won't be adopting her, but she will always be my daughter. Speaking of Trevor, I asked him if he would one my groomsmen. Most people would wonder why, but the way I look at it is he is now family as well. He started dating a lawyer. Her name is Taylor. I think she is really good for him. She has pushed him to do things that he didn't think he could do. He is starting school to be a business man. 

"So have you thought about names for the babies yet?"

"We have some options on the table, but we haven't finalized anything yet. We still have some time to figure it out."

"Please tell me that the boy is named after me." Theo asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Obviously he is naming the boy after me." Luke said.

"You both are wrong. If he is named after anyone it will be dad, or me." 

"Well like you said, you still have some time so maybe we can change your mind."

"Doubt it."

We continued talking and having a few beers. Not enough though because I didn't want something to happen and then I be completely drunk and not know. We had a few ladies approach us. The look they had on their face when I told them I was engaged was priceless. Even if I wasn't engaged, I wouldn't have given them the time of day. Almost all the women who approach me see money and I wasn't about that. I wanted someone who would be with me for me and I found that girl. 

"So do you think you will get married Luke?" 

"I hope one day. Tennyson has been an amazing girlfriend and I love her to death. Her and I haven't even had a serious talk about marriage or kids. I think we should have it soon."

"Well I know for a fact that she has had some thoughts about it."

"And how would you know that Rylan?"

"Dude, girls talk and they talk a lot. Elizabeth had Tennyson over a few months back and they were talking about it. I was eavesdropping when I shouldn't have been, but I did hear enough to know that she has had thoughts of being married, but she thinks you aren't ready for that yet."

"You sneaky son of a bitch." Luke smiled.

"What about you Theo?" I asked 

"Maybe if I found the right girl. I haven't had the best luck in the dating department."

"Well I am sure that you will find someone."

"You have so much faith in me."

"Well Elizabeth's ex Trevor has found someone after his ex fiance went all psycho and kidnapped Emmie. There is someone out there for you. You just have to be patient."

 Theo shrugged. I knew that he was discouraged. Maybe I can get one the nicer women in the office to give it a shot. Nah. He wouldn't want me to meddle in his love life. We just got back on good terms only a few months ago and I don't want to ruin it. I have missed having my brother in my life.

"So do you guys want to call it a night? I don't think that I can take anymore of these thirty hoes hitting on me. I have a woman to get back to." Luke said.

"Yea. Me too." I said

"Sure. I wasn't really feeling the females here anyways."

We paid for our drinks and headed for our car. I had a lot of fun, but I was ready to get to my house and give my woman a kiss. Before we got in the car I got a phone call.

"Hello."

"Mom, slow down. What is going on?"

"What?! Oh my god. Ok. We will meet you there." 

I hung up the phone and started to panic a little bit.

"Rylan whats happening?"

I heard him, but I couldn't answer. We still had 4 weeks left.

"RYLAN!"

"What?"

"What is going on dude.  You look like a ghost."

"E-Elizabeth."

"What about her dude? Did something happen?"

I couldn't even get the words out of my mouth. Then I got smacked.

"What the hell Theo!"

"Now that you are out of your little whatever that was, tell us what is happening."

"Elizabeth went into labor. We need to go to the hospital."

Their jaws dropped and they rushed to get into the car. Luke drove because I wasn't in the right state of mind apparently. 

"Holy shit. I am about to be a dad."
