My Ever After

Chapter Twenty Four

He said he loves me. He. loves. me.

"What?"

"I love you." He smiled.

I was so shocked. I wasn't expecting that. 

"I-"

"You don't have to say it back yet, but going through that made me realize that I don't ever want to lose you and I had to tell you now before I lost my cool and chickened out."

"Rylan, I love you too."

"Really?!" He asked excitedly.

"Yes. I have to admit that the thought of being in love scared me. I mean I loved Trent and he left me. I thought I loved Adrian and he beat me. I don't want there to be an and for you too. I am terrified that you will wake up one day and look at me and be like "why am I with her when I could have a actress or a model." I try to not let it get to me, but it does. I am a single mother who clearly has had struggles and drama in my life and yet so still chose me."

"Do you want to know what I see in you? I see a strong woman who worked hard for all that she has and needs. She doesn't let people drag her down. She is a great mother who puts her daughter above everyone else and yet she still focuses on other people as well. She is confident in her job and does very well at it. You have become one of the most important people in my life and I still to this very day feel bad about how I first treated you. You are everything to me. You and Emmie."

His words were so sweet. I started to cry.

"I don't think anyone has very told me anything like that before." I said sobbing.

"I meant every word of it."

I laid my head on his chest and he played with my hair. I wanted to have him do this every night we go to bed for the rest of our lives.

The next day I woke up and Rylan was already awake.

"Good morning beautiful."

"Good morning. How long have you been awake?"

"For a few hours now. You looked so peaceful that I didn't want to wake up. It may have been me that was shot, but you were worried and that made you tired as well."

"Well thank you. Is anyone coming to stay with you while I go and get the computer and Emmie?"

"Yes. That would be me." Theo said walking into the room.

"How do I know that you two won't fight the entire time?"

"Theo and I talked for a while after all that craziness went down with Erica just busting into the house. I realized there was more to the story than I thought and I had to hear him out. We are on good terms now."

"Well okay then. I will be back in two hours." I said and I kissed him.

I went to the car that Theo left and drove to the Masters. The drive was peaceful. Once I reached their residence I went inside and showered and changed, grabbed my laptop then went to get Emmie.

"Emmie?" 

"Yes momma?"

"Would you like to come with me to see Rylan?" 

"Yes please!" She jumped up and went to put her shoes on.

I could tell she was so excited to see him. I still had to talk to her about meeting Trent. I wanted to give him some time to get over the fact that his ex fiance was crazy enough to kidnap our daughter and try to kill me. He kind of shut himself out from the world. I will have to go and see him soon.
