a flower for a new boy with kind, brown eyes blossomed in her heart, making itself right at home
it grew on the drops showered by him, as it was fertilized with false dreams from friends
the flower exuded her joy with laughs full of life and precious oxygen
his words were the only tune she needed to hear, while his smile was the only sunshine it needed to grow
the flower bloomed and expected the best, until the muddy clouds took over
the sweet co2 that he exhaled no longer gave life to her, it was replaced with the silent co that deprived her of her happiness
heartache circled the flower like a honeybee, instead of sweet pollen, it fed off her bitterness
she did not believe she could produce her own sunshine, she doubted her own strength to let the flower grow
her heart pulsed cold blood up the flower's stem, all the previous warmth forgotten
the love was now watered by her broken tears, their pitter-patter soon became a constant stream
the flower's petals soon all came falling down, for he loved her not
its roots seized her heart painfully, leaving new scars for show
garden shears had pierced her chest, all her love seemed to pour out
she had faith the vines of strength would tie her chest back together, just as they had done dozens of times before
pesky seeds of hope stayed rooted in her heart, they were one of the few constants in her life
the wilted flower died in the grasp of his hands, for silly boys did not know how to handle gentle hearts and the love they grew
