within my four walls, i built a reassuring world. the walls breathed conformity and lulled me to stay. the melodious notes of heartbroken songs sliced the air and blanketed me at night with their somberness. the sky looked bluer from the outside, but somehow nature's hues were not enough to coax me out. my cold sheets encased my even colder body on nights i wished i had someone wrapped around me instead. the floor padded my falls, a luxury the world outside did not seem to have. i had a million reasons to stay and then, you came along.
your honey-colored eyes provided temptations to open up a few doors. the planes of your rugged face supplied the key to a few windows. your smart words gifted me with a few pangs in my chest and a flutter of wings in the pit of my stomach. the essence of you tricked me into knocking these homey walls down; at the time, i did not know you were a pest that wore down the core of my safe haven.
i lent myself to the cruel world, just to be met with a deluge of reality; it drenched my clothes and settled in my bones with an unpleasant chill. i swallowed the bitterness you left in my mouth while yearning for my four walls.
i saw too much in you, and you did not see me at all.a/n: im so excited i got over a 100 view, thank you guys so much :)- a.n.
