Blair Sprouse (born Mabel Blair Sprouse; January 15, 1997) is an American actress and singer, best known for playing a supervillain in Avengers: Age of Ultronand Mal, daughter of Maleficent in Descendants.
Early life Sprouse was born in Long Beach, California as Mabel Blair Sprouse. She is the daughter of Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright. She grew up in Long Beach, California - her home town - and attended Longfellow Elementary School, participating in school plays and performances for years. At the age of eight, she began acting in community theater, hoping to take after her very famous brothers. Sprouse is of German descent, and is a fulent speaker of German and Italian. She has stated she was bullied through her entire school experience, starting in fifth grade through the end of high school for not being talented like her family. Regardless of the pressure at school and fitting in, she stayed focused on her dreams of becoming successful in entertainment: "I became very passionate about [becoming an actress and singer]. I fully immersed myself.
Career In 2007, Sprouse played the role of a young Cosette in the Terrace Theater production of Les Meserables, and in 2008, she had the lead role of Mary in The Secret Garden, again with Terrace Theater.
Sprouse later played Liz Larson in her first film, Barely Lethal, which was theatrically released by A24 Films in 2015. Nearly a month later, Sprouse's larger and more commonly known role as Viper in Avengers: Age of Ultron was debuted for the world to see, and was known as the turning point of her career.
Sprouse then released a movie with Disney - following in the footsteps of her brothers - and starred in the television film Descendants which premiered July 31, 2015. The film was viewed by 6.6 million people and spawned Sprouse's two first Billboard Hot 100 songs, "Rotten to the Core" at No. 38 and a solo song, "If Only", at No. 94. Others songs from the film featuring Sprouse such as "Set it Off" and "Evil Like Me" charted at No. 6 and 12 respectively on the chart. The soundtrack for the movie peaked atop the Billboard 200 chart becoming the first soundtrack from a Disney Channel Original Movie since High School Musical 2 to do so.
Personal life Sprouse began dating actor and singer Ross Marks - Disney Channel Austin & Ally lead - in 2013 before breaking up on May 17, 2014. The breakup was rumored to have occured because of the three films Sprouse was taking up, however, both actors are still close friends and support each other's careers.
