❛ Deserves to be recognized ❜
It had been a long day of shooting different scenes and everyone was tired. Chris, Scarlett, Anthony, Blair, and Elizabeth had to stand in the humid Atlanta movie set with dozens of extras as they exerted themselves to get the first fight scene just perfect for the camera. That alone probably took nine hours, plus some extra work they needed to touch upon the next day.
There was one scene left to shoot that only involved Chris Evans and Blair so really everyone else was just watching the two in interest.
This was one of Blair's favorite scenes because it really showed the inner conflict Ophelia had to deal with and it was a connecting moment between Steve and Ophelia and their sibling-like bond.
"And..." the director trailed off, turning in his chair to see if everyone on his production team was ready. "Action!"
The camera focused onto a room that had several weapons attached to the wall and many posters of Russia with her face on the front of the Wanted posters. The camera zoned in on the bed where a small duffel bag lay with clothes scattered on the bed sheets as if someone was packing or unpacking.
Briskly, Blair walked into the lens and grabbed a stack of folded clothes from the bed, immediately shoving them into the bag with force. She turned around to grab her wallet from the dresser when the camera caught a glimpse of her face, showing a busted lip and a cut above the eyebrow.
Again, she tossed the wallet into the bag and continued to push things into the duffel. She didn't say a word and didn't try to sneak a glimpse at the camera to anticipate her next move but instead waited as Chris walked past the doorway, the camera following him. Portraying his character, the man took a few steps back until he was in the doorway again and he stared at the room before rushing in. "What are you doing?" he demanded, watching as Blair turned her head to stare at him before turning back and shoving more things in her bag on the bed.
"I am leaving," Blair sternly said with no emotion in her tone or face. "Leaving where? You're part of this team!" Chris fired back, his hand reaching out to grasp the girl's elbow. Blair whipped around, staring at their connected skin before yanking her arm away in anger and disgust, "Do not be such a fool, Steve," the girl growled as she forced the sides to close on the bag and zipped it quickly. "I am not welcome in this home, nor am I welcomed by your government. The Secretary said it himself, I am a danger."
"He wants to pull us apart by signing a piece of paper, Ophelia! We need to talk to the others before doing anything ra --"
Blair quickly cut him off, her finger raising as she jabbed it into his chest, "I was better off by myself, Steve. If you do not let me go then I will fight all of you just to exit those doors. Do not test me," she snapped, her fake accent seeping in her words.
"You're fifteen years old!" he shouted, his arms swinging out to his side to exaggerate his point. The girl scoffed and heaved the bag into her hands, "I was Madame Hydra when I was thirteen. My age will never be an issue."
The girl put her bag on the ground and walked to the twin katanas above her bed. She unlatched them from their sitting place and held them in her hand, then picking up the bag. Before she could make it to the door, Chris's voice made her freeze. "What did you see?"
She pursed her lips and looked down, her feet suddenly becoming more interesting by the second. "Ophelia," Steve hissed, "What did you see?"
Blair lifted her head slightly and the camera focused on her eyes that showed nothing but fury and a hint of sadness, though Blair would never show it too much in order to keep the character's strong facade alive.
Blair turned, now facing Chris as he cautiously met her eyes, his own falling after seeing one tear slip from the corner of her left eye. "I was on a mission and it was very cold. I had orders to take down a man who had done nothing wrong, but there was no part of me that cared. I slaughtered him, but I did not stop. I killed his wife, his two children, and the grandmother," she replied, her eyes never leaving Chris's as he looked at her. He was frozen and didn't dare move. "I saw this when that man was talking to us a little bit ago," she elaborated. "This happened a little before I joined Ultron."
Chris bit his lower lip and looked down while also awkwardly shifting on his feet. "Why is that making you leave?"
Blair smirked and looked down at the katanas in her hand, "Because after seeing that, I realized that I do not feel any regret or remorse for what I did. And I felt as if I could very easily do it again with no hesitation."
Chris immediately looked up, an unreadable emotion spread across his face. "Do you still want me to stay, Steve? I am a monster, and you know that. I am responsible for nearly a dozen of those deaths in Lagos. You know I can control my powers, yet I electrocuted a dozen men to death. But if you still want me to stay then I will."
"I do," Chris replied, hope shining in his light eyes. "I do, Ophelia. I haven't given up on you yet," he added, his eyes scanning the room. "Besides, this room could use some photos, some memories. We can't do that if we give up on each other and leave. But we also can't do that if we let the government split us up and tell us what to do."
"Oh, do not be so naive to think that I will ever actually listen to the government," Blair chuckled dryly, lifting her free hand to run it through her bleach blonde hair. Chris smiled, his arms folded over his chest, and watched as the girl put her bag and weapons back on her bed. Before the mood in the room could totally change to calm, Blair whipped around and glared at Steve, "But if you ever think to grab me as you did before, I will not hesitate to throw you out the window myself and watch as rabid animals devour you."
"Cut!" the director yelled across the set, everything seeming to stop as if someone paused the television screen in the middle of the actual movie. "What? No! I want to see what happens!" Tom's voice was heard from the crowd of the cast that sat behind the director and crew as they watched the scene play out between Blair and Chris. "Well you British arse, if you hadn't spoiled part of the movie then maybe we would know what happens and wouldn't have to sit here and watch it," Anthony sneered back.
Blair grinned to herself after hearing an argument erupt from the two and then the other cast joining in but her smile was disrupted when the director called for attention, stopping the girl from returning the clothes in her bag back to the way they were so she could reset the scene. "Well," he called out while clapping his hands together once. "I think we need to give our friends here a round of applause for getting this scene in only four takes!" he announced with a large smile. "We've never done something so quickly and it deserves to be recognized, you all deserve a long night of sleep! So take it!" he added, followed by his clapping and everyone on the crews'.
Blair turned around and laughed in shock to Chris who just smiled wide at her. They gave each other a big hug before engaging in their signature handshake. "That was insane!" she told Chris who nodded in response, "I mean, I can't say I'm surprised. You're always rehearsing. Everywhere I see you you're memorizing lines."
Blair blushed in embarrassment, "You know me, always has to be perfect."
She wasn't lying when she said that to her castmate. And she wasn't bluffing or exaggerating either. Chris didn't think anything of it aside from the fact that it was a harmless joke. But after making a mistake to open up to the public on social media about how she really felt about being a Sprouse yesterday, Blair believed eher statement even more, and it certainly had to be perfect.
People knew she pushed herself, but they didn't know how much. They jut didn't realize that Blair was destroying herself to build herself up, ad she was crumbling faster than she was rising.
