[Author's note: I intended this scene to take place in the late 70s or the early 80s, ie. the beginning of Echo and the Bunnymen]

Will lifted his eyes at Ian, getting lost in thought for a moment. "Isn't it the coat Mark E. Smith lent you? You didn't give it back, did you?"

Ian bowed his head down, shaking it coyly. "No, I didn't. It's mine now," he imposed cheerfully, feeling the wing of his coat up. "Hey, Will... You didn't stop me in the middle of a walk to ask me about my coat, did you?"

"No," Will twitched his lip reflexively - taking more time to re-arrange all those thoughts that were racing through him into speech, and still finding it hard. "The truth is, I really need to talk to you about something."

"What is it?" Ian said, his eyes widening. To Ian, whenever someone needed to have a 'talk', it only spelled trouble.

Will shook his head, snorting amusedly at Ian, and shrugged. "Your hair looks good now. You should keep it this way." He didn't know whether he could reach out and touch it softly for a moment - or would Ian flinch and move out of the way in fear of messing up his magnificent coiffure?
