It may have been the best time of their lives so far, recording Heaven Up Here. Only by mere coincidence was it in conjunction with the lyrics to the title track, though to Mac it didn't feel like a coincidence, but something much deeper than that. It feels better if you assume that good things don't come to you by coincidence, they're handed out to you by something, someone - even if the intellectual side of you tells you that it's an intrinsic part of the human brain to see patterns in things, as a way to compensate for our flawed, partial way of understanding a much more complex situation.

On one hand, the Bunnymen were truly makers of their own fate - a group of individuals so different from one another, each one of them with his own vision and grasp on things, and every one of them wanting the whole band to be set apart from everything else that was going on at the time musically, learning to make music by making it, and picking up their technique as they go. Going up, up, up-er. Higher than ever before.
