BEAUTIFUL CRIME
CHAPTER TWENTY
・゜゜・.
HER HAND RAN THROUGH HONEY DEW CURLED LOCKS. Stanley Uris head rested on the female stomach. The Torah in his hands as he read out his part slowly. While the female laid back down in the field of grass.
Her hair spread out around her as yellow flowers surrounded them. Her eyes were closed, letting the sunlight spread warmth through her body. The cut across her cheek, now cleaned and banaged seemed no longer bother her. Nor did alot of things these days.
It has been two weeks since the group has fallen apart. She had seen Mike a few times. The girl had took it upon herself to go visit him at the farm every once and awhile. Where the two talked about books and often read to each other is they felt like it.
She seen Ben once at the library, he seemed alone and Melody had took it upon herself to invite him to join her for the day. Which he did, making the two just spend the day in town. Watching some movies that played in the theatre and once in the arcade. Until Richie showed up, which she left in a hurry after that.
She hasn't seen Beverly, she tried. But when she did Beverly wanted her to go and talk to Bill. Melody couldn't, though she missed Bill more than anything she couldn't. He hated her, she knew it deep down.
She spoke to Eddie only over the phone. His mom won't let him hang out with them. So they talked in private some days.
Most days Stanley and Melody were together. They were each other's save haven, and nothing could break that.
"You know, Richie said he's sorry." Stanley spoke, dropping the Torah on the ground before rolling over so he laid on her stomach. He arms folded up on her stomach with his chin resting upon them.
Melody blinked open her eyes, and then there was Richie. She missed his jokes, she missed the way he smelled, the way it just felt right with him. She missed him. But anger was a strong feeling, and it over powered missing someone.
"Why doesn't he come say that to my face then," the girl spoke blankly as Stanley snorted sitting up.
"Cause you'll probably punch him," the boy answered blankly as Melody grinned. Sitting up and leaning back on her elbows.
"Damn Uris, you're right." The girl chuckled as Stanley grinned. His hair falling in front of his eyes, however he knew she was lying to herself. At times he can't remember when she doesn't.
"You miss him," the boy spoke his voice quiet as Melody's smile faded. "You miss them both."
The female knew for a fact she couldn't lie to to him. But oh how she wished she could. The girl sighed looking down at the string falling lose of her shorts.
"I do, but that won't change anything. Richie messed up and Bill hates me now. I could never forgive him." The girl muttered, as Stanley smiled plucking a flower from the grass and twirling it around his fingers.
"Yeah that's what you say. You'll forgive him Hopper, just you wait and see." The boy teased grinning over at her as Melody glared over at the boy. However her face broke free of a smile as she saw him with the flower.
"Oh shut up Uris," the girl spoke pushing him lightly. The boy grinned, and in one quick motion he had picked her up and swung her over his shoulder before taking off running.
"Stanley!" The girl yelled, her hair falling down past her as she yelled. Small laughs leaving the surface of her mouth as Stanley kept running. "Put me down your fucker!" The girl yelled as she hit his back.
The boy grinned, chuckling slightly. "If you say so," the boy spoke before stepping over the small lake in the field. Melody realized it too late where they were.
"Stanley!" The girl yelled before taking in a mouth full of water. The female went in under, her eyes wide as she pushed herself back to the surface. Her red locks falling her eyes as she spat out water. Meanwhile Stanley Uris was doubling over laughing.
The female grinned stepping out of the lake and opened up her arms. "Oh Stanley, do you want a hug?" The girl spoke devilishly, a smirk painted across her face.
The boy stepped back shaking his head, "no Melody stay away!" The boy spoke before taking off yelling. The girl laughing taking off after him. Water dripping from her hair as she kept laughing.
Soon enough she managed to tackle him to the ground, and for a moment all of their problems faded away. It was just them in the field. The way it always was.
Melody Hopper realized that day and many days to come. That sometimes all you need to get through, is your best friend and nothing else.
