SMOKE BLEW OUT FROM her chapped lips, her hazel eyes locating a few crows that took off in the sky. The world seemed to be grey, the clouds dull and bitter letting no sunshine seep through. The female flicked at her cigarette as she took another deep drag, letting her head fall back as she did so.

Her long scarlet hair cascading down the back of the wood chair outside of the shop titled "shop n cash," she didn't find the meaning behind the name, nor liked the boss. But it was a job that paid her money, something her and her brother dearly needed.

The door behind her open, the female glanced at the person stepping outside. The girl's long brown hair was tied back into a high ponytail, big gold hoops hanging down from her ears. The young adult turned her attention towards the girl before scoffing slightly.

"That can kill you, you know," she spoke lightning up her own cigarette. The redhead chuckled dryly, blowing out a puff of smoke before she shrugged.

"Says the one who's smoking anyway," Melody replied dryly standing up before throwing the cancer stick to the ground. Stamping down on it with her foot the female ran a hand through her straight hair as Jane spoke.

"Yeah well, you're a kid. It's different," Melody snorted slightly, grabbing her book bag from the ground beside the chair and swinging it onto her back.

"Do you really think that's going to stop me? Because it's not," Melody replied, her hands coming up to tear her hair out from behind her black bookbag. The girl tugged down on her jean skirt, crinkling up her nose slightly with the dark-skinned girl blew a puff of smoke into her face.

"You heading home kid?" She asked as Melody shook her head pulling out her walkman and placing her headphones over her ears.

"Nope, friends house." With that Melody walked out from behind the store. Her hands shoved into her black sweater as she popped her head to a David Bowie song. The female was off from work for the day, meaning she could do whatever she liked until her brother arrived home from work.

The two siblings had been on their own ever since that day seven years ago. Since then Melody had never seen the world with innocence eyes, the person she trusted the most had ruined that for her.
