*Singto's POV *

Everything around him came to a standstill.  Singto was hypnotized.  He involuntarily rose from his seat.

His eyes were deceiving him.  It couldn't be the man who pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger.

The only man he had ever loved was standing a few feet away from him.

Singto slowly walked up to him. His hand reached to touch the other's face.

He was real.  Arthit was real.

And Arthit hadn't acknowledged him in the slightest.

Singto's lips trembled.  The pain he felt since the last time he saw Arthit poured out as tears.

"Arthit..." he croaked, still touching his face.

Arthit kept looking out the window.

Singto's hand fell down to Arthit's shirt, gripping it tightly.

"ARTHIT!  LOOK AT ME YOU BASTARD!" he shouted.  Singto felt as if he was being choked.

Arthit finally looked at him.  There were no emotions in his eyes.  None at all.

Someone was pulling him back trying to break them apart.

"Let go of me!  ARTHIT!  YOU CAN'T FACE ME NOW?  TELL ME HOW YOU DID IT!" he kept screaming.

"P' Sing!  Please contain yourself!" someone said pulling him harder.

Singto finally noticed the young girl next to him panting as she tried to drag him away.

"Nurse, please accompany this patient back to his room.  P' Singto, please come with me."

Fang made him sit in the waiting room.  Singto tried to breathe.  His heart was beating fast.  He wanted to throw up.

"P' Sing, please calm down... this is not a place you can afford to behave like that," she said, gently wiping his tears.  "Remember, you are in a psychiatric hospital, and you attacked a patient."

The realization hit Singto, a psychiatric hospital, a patient.

"He is..." he started to say in a shaking voice.

"The one I've been talking about.  I'm sorry P' Sing.  I didn't know...  it seems like he doesn't recognize you either," Fang continued thoughtfully.

"Didn't you tell me he was here on a court order?"

Fang nodded.  Singto stood up immediately.

"They knew!  They found him and didn't tell me!  I have to go."

He didn't wait to listen to the response.  He wanted to run.  He wanted to run away from Arthit as soon as possible.

*************************

Singto barged into the chief's office.

"You knew where he was all this time and didn't tell me?" he asked angrily.

The chief looked at him confused.  "If you would like to tell me what you are talking about, it would be helpful Singto."

"You knew where Arthit was!  How could you do this to me chief!"

The chief slammed his file on the table.

"The boy who shot you?  The reason you jeopardized an entire mission?  Yes, I knew where he was.  And next time I'll think twice before you raise your voice at me."

"Since when sir?  How did you find him?"

The chief sighed, "You will never learn, will you.  We found him a couple of weeks after you woke up and gave a statement.  He was already sick when we arrested him in his house.  His parents didn't know anything.  We managed to get a court order from your statement.  But we can't prosecute him for attempted murder because of his health.  You would have eventually gotten to know because you are the eyewitness for his case.  For now, he is in custody for drug dealing."

"What happened to him?" Singto asked quietly.

"I don't know.  His parents told me they found him unconscious in front of their house.  He has been in bad shape since."  The chief replied as he tried to recall the incident.

"Did he overdose?" Singto asked.

"I don't think so.  It would have shown up on the test.  But you never know with these cases.  It could be something we didn't test him for.  Even the thing they sold at that time was a new drug."

"Did Jean know?"

"No Singto.  I took care of it myself.  I transferred her to Chiangmai and kept you here.  But she managed to make it back here somehow.  I didn't trust her to keep it a secret."

Singto wanted to break something.

"He deserved it.  So many young lives were destroyed because of him.  Now forget what happened and get back to work."

The chief was right Arthit tried to kill him.  He also ruined so many other lives.

Arthit is paying for his sins.

But why did it hurt him?  Why did the memory of Arthit's blank face, pierce his heart.

"Singto..." the chief called interrupting his thoughts.  "I need you back on the case.  It's bad news.  They got away.  It turns out it was a decoy.  I think it wasn't meant for us.  They were trying to get away from Nai's men.  (Nai is the other gang leader.)

Maybe Knott and Bright knew what happened to Arthit.

"I'm on it sir," Singto replied in relief.

Singto returned to his seat and rested his head on his desk.  He wanted to scream.  He rubbed his chest, trying to ease the pain.

Arthit didn't know him.  Why did it matter?  Arthit never loved him.  Only he was a fool in love.

*Fang's POV*

Kaofang sat in front of Arthit.

"I want to hate you so much P' Arthit.  You hurt P' Sing.  How could you do it to a person who loved you?  I don't even want to help you anymore.  But I can't help it.  I feel there is something I am not seeing.  How did you end up here?"

She stared at Arthit's face sadly.

Singto had told her he didn't want anything to do with Arthit and never to mention him again.  It was unreasonable to ask for his help.

Fang looked at Arthit sadly.

She sent the picture of the gear to Singto.

[I take it you recognize this photo P' Sing.  It was his only possession.  I think we are missing something.]

[I don't care Fang.  Leave me alone.]  Singto replied.

Fang almost threw her phone in frustration.

"What's your story P' Arthit?  What are you hiding?
