*Arthit's POV*

Arthit had been in a medically induced coma for two weeks.  His wounds hurt and could barely move.

The police arrived to get a statement from him.  With Todd's help he managed to keep Singto away from the investigation.  His sentence was five years along with the suspended sentence he had previously.  The judge was lenient when he mentioned he intended to save Singto's father.

According to Todd, Singto tried to visit him multiple times.  But Arthit used his safety as an excuse to refuse his requests.  He was transferred to the prison hospital for further treatment.

*Three years later*

Todd visited him occasionally even though Arthit asked him not to.  Todd updated him about Singto.

"He is a little odd now.  Reminds me a lot of his father actually," Todd said scrunching his face.

"Is he happy P' Todd?" Arthit asked, examining his fingernails.

"I honestly don't know, but that's not why I'm here.  Simba is engaged to some lawyer," Todd said.  His expression was hard waiting for Arthit's response.

Arthit could feel his insides twist but tried his best to keep smiling.

"To a girl?" Arthit asked.

"To a girl," Todd confirmed.  "Are you alright N' Arthit?  I think we should tell him the truth.  It's not fair.  He shouldn't be kept in the dark!" Todd exclaimed.

Arthit bit his trembling lips.  "It's alright P' Todd.  It's what I wanted for him.  I'm glad my plan worked," he said, his voice shaking.  Arthit couldn't keep his head straight any longer.  He sobbed bitterly looking at the floor.

"I'm glad he is okay," Arthit said.

*Five years later*

[Five years since the incident, two years since Todd told Arthit about Singto's engagement.]

Arthit stepped out of the prison gate with nowhere to go.  He had to start from the beginning.  He spent his time in jail reading books and keeping to himself while making connections.  Singto's sad face kept appearing before him.  Arthit wasn't dating a police officer anymore.  He was going to make it through, he thought.  He had been in worse situations.

Arthit avoided thinking about Singto, or so he thought.

Arthit saw a figure across the road leaning onto a car with his arms folded, staring at his direction.  Could he turn around and walk back into the prison and never come out again?

The man crossed the road and walked up to him. Arthit didn't need good eyesight to know who it was.

"Come with me," Singto demanded, pulling Arthit by his hand. There was no greeting just an order.

Arthit pulled back, "Why are you always in my business P' Sing?  I tried to get rid of you, but you keep coming back," Arthit retorted.

His heart was beating fast. He was ecstatic to see Singto looking great.  The last thing Singto needed was Arthit back in his life.

"Shut up and get in the car Arthit," Singto enunciated each word slowly so Arthit would understand.

Arthit followed Singto obediently amused by his behavior.  He had never been able to resist when Singto was stern with him.  He got into Singto's car quietly.

"Why?" he asked Singto.  "Why did you come P' Sing?"

"Just come with me," Singto said as if it meant nothing to him.

They drove in silence.  Arthit grew more frustrated by the minute.

Arthit took a deep breath.  "P' Sing, stop the car."

"Arthit... "

"P' Sing.. we can't keep doing this.  You weren't supposed to come back!  Besides aren't you married?"

Singto ignored him and kept driving.

"P' SING!" Arthit screamed in frustration.  We don't belong together.  I don't belong to you.  I can't keep ruining your life!"

There was a loud screech from the brakes stopping at a lonely stretch of road.  Singto got out of the car walked around and opened Arthit's door.

"You want to talk?  Come out!" he growled.

Arthit got out of the car as they stared at each other.

Singto's expression softened.  "Why did you sacrifice yourself for my father's trap?  Why did you sacrifice me?"

"Aish fucking P' Todd.  I asked him for one favor, and he couldn't do it," Arthit said uninterested.

Singto moved so fast Arthit barely saw him until he crushed him in a tight hug.

Singto cried loudly, "I shot you.  Why did you let me do it?  Why Arthit?  Why!"

Arthit felt Singto shake against him.  He rubbed Singto's back trying to help him breathe.  He knelt in front of Arthit looking at the ground.

"Do whatever you want with me, Arthit.  Release me from this hell," Singto whimpered.

Arthit helped him up hugging him tightly.

"P' Sing, get up.  It doesn't suit you.  I want you to remain as the brave man I knew.  I would have been disappointed in you if you didn't shoot me.  You love your father and you had the guts to sacrifice something you loved for him.  I'm proud of you P' Sing.  Besides, the only reason you shot me was that I wanted you to," Arthit said calmly.

Singto detached himself from Arthit.

"What?" he asked, confused.

"I didn't want you to suffer because of me.  I wanted you to be happy.  But I knew you wouldn't be able to move on unless you hated me.  I wanted to remove myself.  I wanted to die P' Sing because I didn't want to live without you.  I wanted you to have permanent closure," Arthit replied.

"You are despicable Arthit.  You ruined me," Singto spat angrily.  "What if I hadn't shot you?"

"Nai would have killed me if I double-crossed him anyway, or face jail time.  You wouldn't have closure.  I now see was not a good plan.  P' Todd ruined everything.  He told me you were going to get married to a nice girl.  But here we are back to square one.  Just drive away P' Sing.  Let me live with the little bit of conscience I have left."

"I didn't get married," Singto said suddenly.

Singto walked back to the car and brought out a little bag handing it to Arthit.

"What's this?" Arthit asked.

"It's a passport with a ticket to Japan. I  got one too.  I will join you if you want me to.  Let's go away Arthit.  Let's move far away from these people."
