Paige's POV
I winced as my legs scraped against Calvin's chainlink fence. I threw my school backpack up and climbed over. My gray sweatshirt barely keeping my body warm. It was the middle of February and it was still bitter cold in New Hampshire. I looked around me making sure I wasn't being followed. My black boots crunching on the thin layer of snow on the ground as I walked up to Calvin's back door. Before I could even knock Calvin's older brother Mason swung open the door. I blushed at his fierce stare.
"Hey Mason," I greeted him, he rolled his eyes and smirked.
"Cal's in his room." He said, moving aside to let me in.
"Thanks," I replied and pushed past him nervously. I had never liked Mason, he smelled like smoke and his eyes were dull and blank. I adjusted my backpack a couple times as I trudged up the stairs to Calvin's room.
I spotted him hunched over at his desk. I leaned against his open doorway and knocked on his frame.
"Knock, knock," I said quietly. Without even moving he said,
"Who's there?" I sighed,
"It's Paige." His head snapped up and he jumped out of his seat. I smiled when he looked at me.
"Paige! Hi!" He exclaimed as he rushed over to me, he took my bag, set it over to the side and began massaging my shoulders. I suppressed a groan as he kissed my neck, and rolled my eyes. Pulling away, I looked at Calvin's face, his eyes filled with passion. I took his hands and we sat on his navy blue sheets.
The tears began to flow. Calvin's grin quickly turned to a frown and he pulled me into an embrace. I sobbed against his chest, his heart beating at a steady rhythm. "You're okay Paige. Please, don't cry. I hate seeing you cry." He said in his gentle voice. We both leaned back until we were laying down, me in his strong arms. His hug felt so good. I felt his lips touch the top of my head. His large, but gentle hands stroked my straight, chocolate, brown hair. I let out a cry.
"Everyday, Calvin." I wept, "Everyday, I can see them in my mind burning to ashes." I felt him tighten his arms around me as if he wanted to protect me from my sorrows. "But, I just can't seem to accept the fact," I choked on my words, "The fact, that my parents," I gasped for air,
"Paige, you don't have to say it, you don't have to tor---" I cut him off,
"Are dead." I completed my thought and unreservedly broke down in his embrace. He lifted my chin to look at my tear-strewn face. I could feel my makeup streaming down my face in a mascara waterfall. Calvin's face was stricken with worry for me. But the one feeling I could pick out from his bright amber eyes was love. Pure, passionate love. I knew I loved him too. His eyes searched mine for something.
Then the world exploded. Or so it seemed. Everything happened so quickly. Calvin, still holding me brushed across the room and slammed his door shut, locking it. I grabbed his rough face and kissed him on the mouth. Hard. Wrapping my legs around his waist as we threw ourselves onto his bed. Calvin moved on from my lips down to my neck, it took him about thirty seconds to find my tender spot. I let out a quiet whimper as he teased my skin. I pulled his face up to my mouth again and we locked lips. He stroked his tongue on my teeth asking for permission to enter. At first, I didn't allow it. He groaned. I smiled at his frustration. I then parted my lips and allowed his tongue to explore my mouth.
We both sat up, our lips still smashing against each other, he stopped kissing me only when I pulled my sweatshirt over my head. Soon I was in my underwear and my gray tank top, and Calvin was shirtless and in his shorts. We rolled over so I was on top of him, I pushed against his body. I felt a bulge under his shorts. We both blushed and paused for a moment. He looked into my hazel eyes again, searching. I shook my head. He understood. He always understood. That's why I loved him. He reached under my tank top and unclipped my bra, pulling it off of my chest.
Calvin lifted my tank top and kissed my stomach, we rolled over again and he slowly began to push his hard member against my covered womanhood. It felt oddly pleasurable. Suddenly we heard the front door of the house slam from downstairs. Calvin and I had stopped moving to listen. There was a point when all was quiet, then suddenly all hell broke loose. We both heard Mason shouting profanity, then we heard Calvin's dad shouting and swearing. I heard a noise like a whiskey bottle smashing on a table. Calvin closed his eyes to stop his angry tears.
"Shit. Paige. Stay here, I have to," He paused and looked at me.
"I know, go Calvin, I'll be here." I kissed him one more time before allowing him to yank on his shirt. He gave me a longing look as he closed his bedroom door. I heard Calvin's quick footsteps running down the stairs. I heard his dad shout and scream as I pulled on my sweatshirt and black leggings.
Calvin came back upstairs after about 2 hours of yelling and swearing. His eyes were tired and red. I was still sitting on his bed, holding my knees with tears in my eyes from some of the things I had heard them say to each other. He walked over to me and kissed my forehead.
"I'm sorry," I said to him. He collapsed on his mattress. I cuddled up next to him.
"No, I'm sorry. Mason was high. Dad was drunk." Calvin's voice was raspy from all the screaming. "He was high Paige, can you believe it?" I shook my head, "Mason was high. Where did he even get the drugs?" Calvin's eyes were still filled with anger, his fists clenched. I kissed his chin, he softened at my touch. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and pushed his nose against my forehead, we closed our eyes.
"I love you, Paige." He said, his voice was quiet and sleepy. I sighed quietly.
"I know Cal. I love you, too."
