Paige's POV
October (3 months later)
Babies are born without knee caps.
I slammed the book shut. "Are you serious? First you'll be born with 300 bones, and then you won't have knee caps?" I asked my slowly swelling stomach.
Just then Calvin walked in from work. "Hey, flower!" he said to me. I took a sip of my tea.
"Hey you," I said back with a smile.
"Paige, the leaves are turning," he said excitedly. He walked over to the table and set down his laptop bag.
"How's my little cupcake?" Calvin placed his hand on my stomach. I giggled at his touch.
"Your cupcake is doing well, how was work?" I asked him. He sighed and sat down.
"I love half days," he said. I leaned back in my chair,
"Me too," Calvin got up to get some coffee. Ever since we had confirmed my pregnancy Calvin had taken all Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as half days. So, he came home at 2:30, my scribe shift ended at 2 PM on all days anyway.
"How was your ride home? No bumps right? I still really think that you should let me drive you." Calvin asked, I shook my head.
"Calvin, I'm pregnant, not glass. The people on the bus are nice. Everything was fine," I said, trying to reassure him. "By the way, did you know that babies are born without knee caps," Calvin slurped his coffee loudly.
I felt a dull thump within my abdomen. "Cupcake kicked! The baby kicked!" I said suddenly. Calvin's eyes widened.
"Seriously!?" he rushed over to me and placed his hand on my belly again. The thump had stopped. I grabbed Calvin's arm.
"Calvin," I said seriously. He snapped his attention to my face and searched my eyes.
"Yes what is it? Do you need something? Anything," he said.
"Quesadillas. I want quesadillas tonight," I said, my voice firm. Calvin frowned.
"Aren't we not supposed to give into your cravings?" he asked. I squeezed his arm tighter, my nails digging into his skin. "Okay! Okay, quesadillas it is." he shook off my hand and put his coffee cup down.
Calvin walked over to the fridge and brought out the lettuce, olives, peppers and grape tomatoes. He put all of these in a bowl and streaked on some dressing.
"Eat this for lunch. I'll get you some orange juice," he pushed the bowl of salad in front of me and took a glass out from the cabinet.
"Ugh," I said glaring at the bowl of 'healthy junk'. "Why do you have to be so responsible?" I muttered under my breath. Calvin chuckled as he poured orange juice into the glass.
"You're getting quesadillas for dinner tonight, this is just a small price to pay." I gave him a sarcastic smile and stabbed the lettuce with my fork.
TIME SKIP: November
Calvin's POV
"Ready Paige?" I asked her, she shuffled around and got her bag, a hand on her stomach the entire time.
"I think so," she said. I held out my hand and she grabbed it tightly. We walked over to the elevator and stood inside pressing the ground floor button. Paige took many deep breaths.
"Paige, we're just finding out what gender our baby is, nothing serious, the process is painless," I said to her.
"I know, I honestly don't know why I'm so stressed out," she said.
