Calvin's POV

Work. Great. I mean don't get me wrong. I love my job. It pays well, the people are nice, my boss is nice, and it hasn't caused me any financial issues in the least. But the mood I was feeling while driving to work this morning was dragging me down. I kept thinking about the night before. Paige and I had had unprotected sex. It was an accident, but a big one at that.

9 AM - 5 PM job. I was working as a paid intern at local high school. I was the assistant IT guy. My boss's name was Craig. He's pretty strict, but overall a nice person. My job was simple. Nothing too over the top. Nothing that I hadn't learnt before. I went around the multiple classrooms and lectures and helped with any type of technology issues the students or teachers were having.

The day dragged on. 2 cups of coffee turned into 6 cups by 12 PM. My pocket buzzed. Or rather I had been paged. I scuffled around quickly to put my coffee mug down, reaching for my phone to see who needed me.

Room 378, Fish Anatomy Lecture, WiFi kicked all students and staff out, only that room.

I grinned and grabbed my computer from my desk and set off for the third floor.

"Mr. Ergott!" The lecturer called out as soon as I entered. I almost jumped at the sound of her raspy, loud voice.

"Yes, ma'am. WiFi trouble?" I said smoothly. All the high school girls giggled as I walked to the teacher's desk. I rolled my eyes inwardly.

"Yes, my name is Professor Jen Hedgens, my students and I have been kicked out of the WiFi," She said firmly, silencing the students.

Turns out the router connection in the room had been cut off. All I had to do was clip in the connecting wire and everything was set. Nothing happened after that. No more problems. I sat at my desk reading the Guide to Fish Mind Reading, given by Professor Hedgens, for the rest of the day.

The clock read 4:49. I groaned quietly, thinking about Paige. She would be at her afternoon coffee barista job now. My eyelids felt heavy. I closed them for a moment.

When I opened them again, my head was on my desk and someone had a tight grip on my arm, shaking me awake. "Alright, alright, I'm awake." I said groggily. I hurried to fix my ruined hair when I realized who it was.

My boss.

"Craig." I said. He crossed his arms and lowered his glasses.

"Mhm." He said, his head bobbing up and down. "You're sleeping on the job." He stated. I rubbed my legs nervously.

"I am so sorry, sir. Nothing was happening, I just," I stopped and looked at Craig's face. "It won't happen again," I ended my explanation. Craig nodded and glanced at his watch.

"You're done here." He said. I almost gasped in shock and stood up quickly.

"You're firing me?! Please, Craig, I'm sorry!" I exclaimed. Craig frowned slightly.

"What are you talking about, Ergott. It's 5:10 PM, you're done for the day." Craig said. I exhaled suddenly.

"Oh, um, yeah. I, uh, obviously, yeah, yeah I knew that," I stuttered, grabbed my things and uneasily swept passed him. I gave myself an inward face slap.

When I got home, Paige was already there, slumped on the couch. She had a tub of coffee ice cream in her hands and she was eating it messily.

"Paige, what are you doing here already? Did they let you out early?" I asked her lovingly as I set my bag down, and walked towards the couch.

"Hopps," She said. I suddenly realized she had been crying. "Hopps, fired me." She said.

I hurried my steps and sat down next to her. "Why? What happened?" I asked her gently.

"NOTHING!" She let out another sob. "I did nothing. They were losing money, Genie said she needed to let some people go...she chose me..." Genie was her boss. I sighed.

"It's okay. It's not like we need that job. We have enough to support ourselves," I said, trying to console her. Paige shrugged.

"I'd made a lot of friends there," she said. I touched her arm.

"I mean we go there every weekend for breakfast and coffee, don't we? You can see them then. It's not the end of the world, P," I said. Honestly, I was a little shocked at how she was taking this. It was just a simple cafe barista job. She still had her part time job as a doctor's scribe. It payed well and we had enough money.

"I guess you're right. I'm not sure why I'm so out of control," Paige said. She sat up and put her tub of ice cream on the side table.

"Out of control." Paige repeated. Her tone suddenly filled with worry. "Oh my goodness. My emotions are all over the place and I've been craving ice cream since this afternoon!" She exclaimed.

I realized what she was thinking. "Paige, hon, its only been two weeks," Paige looked at me.

"Yeah," She said. She didn't seem very convinced, and to be honest, I wasn't either.

"We'll go to the doctors tomorrow, I promise. I already called Dr. Mohag. She'll be seeing us at 2:30, at my lunch break. Okay?" I said to Paige. She took a couple deep breaths.

A tear rolled down her cheek. "I'm scared, Cal! What if I'm pregnant? What if we have to step up before we get married to take care of our baby?" She was full on crying now. I was highly confused but I needed to support her.

"Paige, don't worry, we can do it. We're a team, right?" I pulled her into my arms.

She started laughing between her cries. Her mood swings were becoming so crazy, it was scaring me a little.

"You're so cliché, Cal," she said to me. I chuckled nervously.

"Aha, yeah...hon, are you sure it's not just 'that time of the month'?" I asked her. She shook her head and looked at me.

"That's just it Cal. I was on my period when you proposed to me," she said, playing with her ring.

I looked at the ceiling. We sat in silence. Paige's head in my lap. I stroked her hair softly.

"Oh my goodness, I really am pregnant." She whispered.

I exhaled. We both wanted a doctor to confirm whether or not she was. But we both already knew the answer.

The next nine months were going to be hectic. Like taking care of a baby.
